Breakfast is available on site and filling enough to fuel a morning surf session. Pricing is fair for what you get in a town that has gotten notably more expensive in recent years.
Harmony Hotel
Harmony Hotel is one of the best-run properties on the Nicoya Peninsula and consistently earns high marks from guests. The hotel sits directly adjacent to Playa Guiones, meaning the beach is genuinely steps away from your bungalow. Rooms are thoughtfully designed with natural materials, good ventilation, and real attention to detail. The onsite restaurant, Organico, serves some of the best food in the entire Nosara area using fresh local ingredients. This is the kind of place that earns repeat visitors year after year.
The Gilded Iguana
The Gilded Iguana has been a Nosara institution for decades and remains one of the most recognized names in town. Located close to Playa Guiones, the hotel has a lively pool bar that draws both guests and locals, especially on weekends. Rooms range from basic cabins to more comfortable air-conditioned units, so choose carefully when booking. The food and drink at the bar are genuinely good, not just serviceable, which is not a given in this part of Costa Rica. A solid mid-range choice with a lot of character.
Café de Paris
Cafe de Paris is a French-owned property that doubles as one of the better bakeries and restaurants in Nosara, making it a genuinely useful base for food lovers. The bungalows and rooms are clean and comfortable, set around a pool in a well-maintained garden. Location puts you within easy reach of Playa Guiones without being right on the main tourist strip. Breakfast here is excellent, with proper croissants and coffee that stand out in a region where good pastries are rare. A low-key choice for travelers who care as much about eating well as surfing.
Nosara Beach Hotel
Nosara Beach Hotel is positioned near Playa Pelada, the quieter and more scenic of the two main beaches in the area, and the location is its strongest selling point. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere compared to the surf-centric properties near Guiones, attracting a slightly older crowd and more couples. Rooms are comfortable and decently sized with ocean-facing views in the better categories. The pool overlooks the coastline and sunsets from this spot are genuinely impressive. Service is attentive without being intrusive.
Lagarta Lodge
Lagarta Lodge sits on a ridge above the Nosara River estuary and the private biological reserve it manages, giving guests sweeping views over jungle and coastline that few other properties in the region can match. The lodge has its own trails through the reserve where howler monkeys, crocodiles, and dozens of bird species are regularly spotted. Rooms are well-appointed and the design makes the most of the elevated jungle setting. The restaurant has excellent food and the sunset views from the dining terrace are hard to beat anywhere in Nosara. This is a standout choice for nature-focused travelers and couples.
Almost Paradise Hotel
Almost Paradise sits at the quieter northern end of Playa Guiones and has a more spacious, resort-like layout than most properties in the area. The grounds are large and well-kept, with a pool that kids and families appreciate after the beach. Rooms are among the more comfortable in the mid-range tier, with proper air conditioning and good natural light. The beach access here is uncrowded compared to the central stretch near the main surf schools. A reliable choice for families or groups that need more space and a calmer beach vibe.
Hacienda El Pelicano
Hacienda El Pelicano is a small luxury property perched on the cliffs above Playa Pelada, offering some of the most dramatic ocean views in Nosara. The rooms and villas are beautifully finished with high-end furnishings and private terraces that make it genuinely hard to leave.
