The staff are genuinely helpful with arranging tuk-tuks and day trips around the city. Breakfast is simple but included, which helps keep daily costs down. A solid no-frills base for budget travelers who plan to spend most of their time outside.
Ansara Hotel
Ansara Hotel is a small boutique property right on Fa Ngum Road facing the Mekong River, and the location is genuinely hard to beat. The colonial French architecture has been restored carefully, and the interior design feels considered rather than generic. Rooms are not large but are well appointed, with quality linens and proper blackout curtains. The ground floor restaurant serves some of the better Lao food in this part of the city. It books out quickly for weekends so plan ahead.
Hotel Beau Rivage Mekong
Hotel Beau Rivage Mekong sits directly on Fa Ngum Road with unobstructed views of the Mekong from its upper floor rooms and riverside terrace. The French colonial style is well maintained and the common areas feel genuinely atmospheric without being overdone. Rooms facing the river cost more but are worth requesting at booking. The restaurant terrace at sunset is one of the more pleasant spots in Vientiane for a cold Beer Lao. Walking distance to the morning market and the Presidential Palace area.
Salana Boutique Hotel
Salana Boutique Hotel occupies a restored colonial building on Manthatourath Road in a leafy part of central Vientiane. The rooms have high ceilings, dark wood floors, and thoughtful local touches that make them feel distinct from standard hotel rooms. The pool is small but rarely crowded, and the garden surrounding it is genuinely peaceful. Breakfast is cooked to order and the menu includes both Lao and Western options done properly. A good fit for couples wanting atmosphere over square footage.
Lao Orchid Hotel
Lao Orchid Hotel is on Chao Anou Road, placing it close to the Nam Phu fountain area and the main cluster of restaurants and bars in central Vientiane. Rooms are clean, well maintained, and come with solid air conditioning that handles the Vientiane heat reliably. The pool on the upper level is a practical feature rather than a showpiece but does the job. Service is professional and the front desk team handles booking tours and transport without the usual runaround. A reliable mid-range choice with a central position.
Green Park Boutique Hotel
Green Park Boutique Hotel is set along Khouvieng Road in a quieter section of the city, surrounded by gardens that give the property a calm, almost secluded feel despite being fifteen minutes from the riverfront. The rooms are spacious and furnished with genuine care, and the bathrooms are among the better ones in this price range in Vientiane. The outdoor pool area is well kept and shaded in the afternoon. Staff responsiveness here is consistently above average based on what most guests report. The restaurant is worth eating at more than once.

Novotel Vientiane
Novotel Vientiane sits on Lane Xang Avenue, the broad central boulevard that runs from the Patuxai arch toward the Mekong, putting it within reach of government offices and embassies. Rooms follow the Novotel formula reliably, clean and functional with decent desk setups for working. The outdoor pool is a good size and the gym is one of the better equipped ones in the city. Conference facilities make it the default choice for business visitors. Not the most characterful option in Vientiane but dependably consistent.
Settha Palace Hotel
Settha Palace Hotel on Pangkham Street is the most storied property in Vientiane, a restored 1932 French colonial building that manages to feel genuinely grand without being fussy. Rooms have high ceilings, period furniture, and proper bathtubs, and the suites are among the most atmospheric in the country. The garden pool is a beautiful space, flanked by colonial facades and old trees. The in-house restaurant serves French and Lao cuisine that holds up against the best tables in the city. If you are going to splurge once in Laos, this is the right place to do it.
Crowne Plaza Vientiane
Crowne Plaza Vientiane on Samsenthai Road is the most full-service international hotel in the city, with a rooftop pool that looks out over the Vientiane skyline and the Mekong in the distance. Rooms are large, well soundproofed, and come with proper rain showers and quality bedding. The breakfast spread is the most comprehensive in the city and is worth factoring into the rate. The ground floor lounge bar is a reliable spot for meetings or a quiet drink without background noise. It sits a comfortable walk from the Patuxai monument and the central market area.
