This small guesthouse sits on a quiet side street in the lower town, about a 10-minute walk from the Grand Square. Rooms are basic but clean, with simple wooden furniture and decent wifi. The hosts are friendly and serve a solid homemade breakfast included in the price. It is not fancy, but it is one of the most affordable options in the city center area. Good choice if you just need a comfortable base without spending much.
Old Town Hostel Sibiu
Located right inside the historic center on Strada Filarmonicii, this hostel offers private rooms alongside dormitory beds. The building has original stone walls and creaky wooden floors that add real character. Private rooms are small but clean, and the location saves you taxi money since everything is walkable. Staff are helpful with restaurant recommendations and day trip advice. Skip the dorm rooms if noise bothers you as the walls are thin.
Hotel Am Ring
The hotel faces directly onto Piata Mare, the main square of Sibiu, and the location is genuinely unbeatable. Rooms at the front have views over the square and the surrounding baroque facades. Interiors are traditionally furnished without feeling dated, and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is decent and served in a ground-floor room with big windows onto the square. This is the hotel to book if being at the heart of the old town matters to you.
Imparatul Romanilor
One of the oldest hotels in Romania, operating since 1555, and it still holds up well as a place to stay. It stands on Strada Nicolae Balcescu, the main pedestrian street connecting the two central squares. The rooms have been renovated but keep some period details like arched windows and wooden beams. The restaurant on site is reliable for traditional Romanian food without tourist-trap pricing. Johann Strauss and Franz Liszt once stayed here, which the staff are happy to mention.
Hotel Ramada Sibiu
This Wyndham property on Piata Unirii is the most business-oriented hotel in the city, with a proper conference center and reliable amenities. Rooms are larger than average by Sibiu standards and the beds are very comfortable. The indoor pool and fitness area are well maintained and rarely crowded. It is a short walk from the old town but not directly inside it, which keeps the noise down. Good option for longer stays or work trips where you need consistent quality.
Hotel Sibiu Centro
Tucked just off Piata Mica, the smaller of the two main historic squares, this boutique hotel occupies a renovated 18th century merchant house. Stone archways and original ceiling details are preserved in the common areas. Rooms are well-designed with quality linens and blackout curtains. The breakfast spread includes local cheeses and cold cuts rather than the usual generic buffet. Parking is limited in this part of the old town, so arriving by foot or taxi is the easier option.
Casa Luxemburg
This boutique hotel is set in a beautifully restored building right on Piata Mica, and the building itself is the main reason to stay here. Exposed brick walls, vaulted ceilings, and antique furnishings give it a genuine historic atmosphere. The superior rooms are spacious and the corner suite has views over the small square that are hard to beat. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Couples who want atmosphere and a central location will find this hard to top in Sibiu.
Cindrelul Pensiune
Located in the village of Rasinari, about 12 kilometers from central Sibiu in the Marginimea Sibiului area, this rural guesthouse is a solid choice for families wanting space and fresh air. The property has a large garden, a playground area, and easy access to hiking trails in the Cindrel Mountains. Rooms are generous in size and the kitchen serves hearty Romanian countryside cooking. It is not a hotel in the conventional sense but offers real local hospitality. You will need a car to get in and out of the city.
Hotel Golden Tulip Ana Tower Sibiu
The tallest hotel in Sibiu, Ana Tower stands on Calea Dumbravii and offers city and mountain views that no other property can match. Rooms are spacious and finished to a high standard, with modern bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows in many categories. The rooftop restaurant has panoramic views and serves some of the best food in the city. The spa and indoor pool facilities are the most complete in Sibiu. It is a 15-minute walk from the old town but the shuttle service makes that irrelevant.
