Alice Town

The beating heart of North Bimini

Budget $0-$0/night

Alice Town lines King's Highway, the main strip on North Bimini, and this is where activity concentrates. The marina is three minutes from most hotels, dive shops are right here, and the End of the World Bar sits on King's Highway itself. Walk to the grocery store, fish fry spots, and the government dock in under ten minutes. Weekends get loud when sport-fishing boats come in, but you are in the middle of everything. Streets are flat and walkable. Most independent hotels sit within two blocks of the waterfront. It is the obvious base for anyone visiting Bimini for the first time.

Best for
First-timersdiversanyone who wants walkable access to restaurants and bars
Walk times
  • Bimini Marina 3 min
  • End of the World Bar 5 min
  • Government ferry dock 8 min
Skip if: You want peace and quiet. Weekend nights get loud near the marina strip.
Local tip: Book a room on the east side of King's Highway for sunrise views over the water. West-facing rooms look at the marina but pick up generator noise after dark.

Bailey Town

Local Bimini, no tourist markup

Budget $0-$0/night

Bailey Town begins where Alice Town ends, about half a mile north along King's Highway. This is the residential side of North Bimini: local guesthouses, small grocery stores, and a quieter pace. You pay 30 to 40 percent less than Alice Town rates. Walk south along the connector to reach Alice Town bars in about 12 minutes. Beach access near Bailey Town is less crowded than the spots closer to the marina. Most guests here are serious anglers or repeat visitors who know someone local. Not much signage. Ask around when you arrive and locals will point you in the right direction.

Resorts World Bimini

All-in-one casino resort on the north tip

Budget $0-$0/night

Resorts World Bimini opened in 2015 on the northern tip of North Bimini and operates as a self-contained complex. The casino, multiple restaurants, a swim-up bar, and a deep-water marina are all on property. The beach here is manicured and calm. You do not need to leave, which is both the appeal and the problem. It sits about 1.5 miles from Alice Town, so local bar-hopping requires the resort shuttle or a golf cart. Rooms are the nicest on the island by a wide margin. The fast ferry from Miami Beach docks right at the Resorts World marina, making Friday-night arrivals seamless. Prices reflect the monopoly position.

Best for

Walk times
  • Resorts World casino floor 2 min
  • Resorts World beach 4 min
  • Alice Town King's Highway 25 min
Skip if: You are here for local culture or fishing charters. The resort bubble keeps you away from real Bimini.
Local tip: The Balearia fast ferry from Miami Beach docks directly at Resorts World. If you booked elsewhere on the island, you still arrive here and need transport. Sort the golf cart rental before you leave the marina.

South Bimini

The quiet island most visitors skip entirely

Budget $0-$0/night

South Bimini is a separate island reached by a short free ferry from North Bimini's government dock. South Bimini Airport (BIM) is here, along with a handful of rental villas and small eco-lodges. The Fountain of Youth archaeological site is a short walk from the ferry landing. Development is minimal. There are no bars or restaurants within easy walking distance, so plan meals in advance. The beaches on the southwest side are consistently uncrowded, with calm turquoise water and good snorkeling. If you want the Bahamas without any resort noise, this is the corner that almost every visitor overlooks entirely on their first trip.

Walk times
  • South Bimini ferry dock 5 min
  • BIM Airport 8 min
  • Fountain of Youth archaeological site 10 min
Skip if: You want restaurants, bars, or nightlife within walking distance. There are almost none here.
Local tip: The free ferry from North Bimini runs roughly every 30 minutes until around 10pm. Before going out in Alice Town for the night, confirm the last ferry time with your host.

What is the best area to stay in Bimini for first-timers?

Alice Town on North Bimini is the right call. You are within walking distance of the marina, dive shops, restaurants, and the ferry dock on King's Highway. You can rent a golf cart and cover the whole island in under an hour, so you are not locked in. But you have a walkable base with real options within a few minutes on foot.

Is Resorts World Bimini worth the extra cost?

It depends on what you want. The rooms are the best on the island, the beach is clean, and the pool setup is genuinely good. But at $250-600 a night you are paying for a resort experience that keeps you away from local Bimini. If you came for fishing or local culture, stay in Alice Town. If you took the fast ferry from Miami for a two-night escape, Resorts World makes the whole trip easy.

How do you get around Bimini without a car?

Golf carts are the standard on North Bimini. Rent one on arrival and it handles every trip you need. Alice Town to Resorts World takes about 10 minutes by cart. Walking is fine within Alice Town itself. South Bimini requires the government ferry from the North Bimini dock, which runs until around 10pm. Taxis exist but carts are cheaper for anything longer than one day.

When is the best time to visit Bimini?

December through April is the dry season and peak period for fishing and diving. Water visibility is clearest in winter and spring. Summer brings heat and humidity, but prices at independent hotels in Alice Town and Bailey Town drop noticeably. Resorts World holds its rates year-round. July and August are the quietest months if you want empty beaches and do not mind the heat.
