Page City Center

Walk to dinner, drive 10 minutes to the canyon

Mid-range $100-$180/night

Lake Powell Boulevard is the main drag in Page, with a Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt Place, and Holiday Inn Express within two blocks of each other. Bonkers and Ranch House Grille are both 5 minutes on foot for a sit-down meal. The tour operators for Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon are a 10-minute drive east along Highway 98 and Antelope Point Road. Horseshoe Bend parking lot is 8 minutes south on US-89. Navajo Drive crosses Lake Powell Blvd and has a Safeway for supplies. If your tour departs at 7am, this neighborhood makes the logistics easy.

Best for
First-timersearly morning tour departuresanyone who wants maximum options close together
Walk times
  • Lake Powell Blvd restaurants 5 min
  • Lower Antelope Canyon tour entrance 10 min
  • Horseshoe Bend overlook parking 8 min
Skip if: You want lake views or any kind of resort atmosphere
Local tip: Upper Antelope Canyon fills months out in spring and summer. Ken's Tours and Antelope Canyon Navajo Tours are the two main Navajo-led operators. Book the 8am slot if it is open. The famous light shaft only appears midday in summer, but early tours have a fraction of the crowd.

Wahweap / Lake Powell Marina

Sunset over red-rock water, 15 minutes from the slot canyons

Mid-range $160-$280/night

Wahweap Bay sits about 4 miles northwest of Page off Lakeshore Drive. Lake Powell Resort, operated by Aramark, sits directly on the marina with unobstructed views across the water toward Navajo Canyon. The lakeside wing rooms are a genuine upgrade over anything on Lake Powell Blvd. Carl Hayden Visitor Center, worth 20 minutes for the Glen Canyon dam overview, is a 10-minute walk from the resort entrance. Outside the hotel there is no walkable food scene. You need a car for everything. The drive to Lower Antelope Canyon runs about 15 minutes east on US-89 to Highway 98.

Best for
Couplesphotographersanyone who wants scenic surroundings and does not mind driving for meals
Walk times
  • Wahweap Marina dock 8 min
  • Carl Hayden Visitor Center 10 min
  • Lower Antelope Canyon tour entrance 15 min
Skip if: You want walkable restaurants or plan to use the room as a crash pad only
Local tip: Ask specifically for a lakeside room when booking Lake Powell Resort. Parking-lot rooms cost the same and face asphalt. Calling 48 hours before arrival and requesting the upgrade beats hoping at check-in.

US-89 South Budget Strip

No frills, works for one night, save the money for the tours

Budget $70-$120/night

A cluster of motels lines US-89 in the southern part of Page between Coppermine Road and the US-89/Highway 98 junction. Quality Inn, Best Western Plus, and several independents run $70 to $120 per night. Rooms are clean and basic. Antelope Canyon tours cost $50 to $80 per person before the $8 Navajo Nation recreation permit, so cutting $60 on lodging covers one of those costs. Horseshoe Bend is a 15-minute drive south on US-89. The Safeway on Coppermine Road opens at 6am and has better coffee than any lobby in this stretch, which matters when your tour leaves at 7.

Best for
Solo travelersbudget road trippersanyone doing one or two nights before moving on
Walk times
  • Safeway on Coppermine Road 8 min
  • Lower Antelope Canyon tour entrance 12 min
  • Horseshoe Bend overlook parking 15 min
Skip if: You care about room quality or plan to spend time at the property
Local tip: The $8 Navajo Nation recreation permit is required at the canyon gate. Your tour operator includes it in the booking fee, but confirm when you pay. Some visitors arrive expecting it to be covered and get caught short at the entrance.

Canyon Point / Amangiri

Desert-carved luxury, private canyon tours, the ceiling on what this region offers

Luxury $1500-$3000/night

Canyon Point is an unincorporated stretch of Kane County, Utah, about 15 miles north of Page off US-89. Amangiri resort sits on Kayenta Road, built into the sandstone mesa so the structure disappears into the landscape. Rates start at $1,500 per night in the off-season. The pool carved from desert rock is the most photographed hotel pool in the American Southwest for a reason. Guest services arrange private Antelope Canyon tours in the pre-dawn hours before group tours begin, meaning 5 to 10 people in the slot canyon instead of 200. Upper Antelope Canyon is 18 minutes south on US-89.

Best for
Honeymoonsmilestone tripstravelers for whom price is not the deciding factor
Walk times
  • Amangiri pool and mesa deck 3 min
  • Upper Antelope Canyon tour entrance 18 min
  • Horseshoe Bend overlook parking 22 min
Skip if: You have children under 12 or plan to spend most of your time outside the resort
Local tip: Book the private Antelope Canyon add-on when you reserve the room. The resort coordinates with Navajo Nation operators for exclusive early-access slots. These fill up fast from March through October.

How far is Page, AZ from Antelope Canyon?

Lower Antelope Canyon is about 3 miles east of Page city center, a 10-minute drive along Highway 98 and Antelope Point Road. Upper Antelope Canyon is roughly 4 miles from Page, about 8 minutes by car. Both are reachable from any Page hotel without a significant drive.

Do you need a car to get to Antelope Canyon from Page?

Yes. There is no public transit between Page hotels and either canyon entrance. Most visitors drive themselves or book a tour that includes hotel pickup. Ken's Tours and Antelope Canyon Navajo Tours both offer hotel pickup for $10 to $15 extra per person. Book that option when you reserve your canyon tour, not the morning of.

What is the cheapest area to stay near Antelope Canyon?

The US-89 south strip in Page has rooms from $70 per night at Quality Inn and Best Western Plus. You give up nothing in canyon access: Lower Antelope Canyon is 12 minutes by car. The tour itself costs $50 to $80 per person plus an $8 Navajo Nation recreation permit, so cheaper lodging is worth prioritizing here.

Is it worth staying at Amangiri to visit Antelope Canyon?

Only if you were already planning a stay at Amangiri. The resort is 18 minutes from Upper Antelope Canyon and arranges private pre-dawn tours with 5 to 10 people instead of the usual crowds. That experience is genuinely different. But at $1,500 per night minimum, you are not booking Amangiri for canyon access. The canyon is a bonus, not the reason.
