North Lake Powell Boulevard

Best all-around base for guided canyon tours

Mid-range $150-$250/night

The main hotel strip in Page runs along N Lake Powell Blvd between Elm Street and Vista Avenue. Hyatt Place, Hampton Inn, and Courtyard by Marriott sit within half a mile of each other. Canyon tour operators run pickups from this corridor. Safeway on S Lake Powell Blvd is six minutes on foot. Upper Antelope Canyon is a 10-minute drive northeast on US-98. Most tours depart at 8am and parking at the entrance fills by 7:30am. This area books out completely from May through September. Lock in your tour first, then your hotel, minimum three months out.

South Page / US-89 Corridor

Budget base with Horseshoe Bend at your door

Mid-range $80-$140/night

South of downtown Page along US-89, hotel density drops and rates fall to $80-130 a night. You are a short walk from Horseshoe Bend Trailhead on Horseshoe Bend Drive, cutting out the shuttle cost other areas charge. Smaller independents and the Best Western Plus line this stretch. Upper Antelope Canyon is 15 minutes away instead of 10. Restaurants thin out here but Walmart on Coppermine Road handles groceries. Quieter at night, which matters when your canyon tour starts at 6am. Best value option in the area for anyone combining Horseshoe Bend with the canyon on the same trip.

Best for
Budget travelerssolo visitorsanyone pairing Horseshoe Bend with the canyon
Walk times
  • Horseshoe Bend Trailhead parking on Horseshoe Bend Drive 18 min
  • McDonald's on S Lake Powell Blvd 10 min
  • Walmart on Coppermine Road 14 min

Local tip: Horseshoe Bend sees 1.5 million visitors a year. Go at 7am or after 5pm. Staying south puts you there before the crowds hit.

Wahweap / Lake Powell Marina

Lakeside resort setting with the best sunset views

Luxury $220-$320/night

Five miles northwest of Page off US-89, Wahweap sits on Lake Powell's edge. The Lake Powell Resort anchors this area with direct water views toward Glen Canyon Dam. It is the most scenic base near the canyon and the most expensive, averaging $220-320 in peak season. Upper Antelope Canyon is 15 minutes away. No walkable restaurants exist outside the resort itself. The marina rents boats, kayaks, and runs lake tours. If you plan one lake day and one canyon day, this makes logistical sense. If the canyon is your only reason to be here, the price premium is a stretch.

Best for
Coupleslake day tripsanyone who wants resort amenities alongside canyon access
Walk times
  • Wahweap Marina dock 5 min
  • Lake Powell Resort main restaurant 3 min
  • Glen Canyon Dam overlook on US-89 20 min
Skip if: You are on a budget or the canyon is your only reason to visit
Local tip: Sunrise from the Wahweap shoreline catches the canyon walls across the water. No bus, no crowds. Set an alarm for 5:50am.

A cluster of smaller hotels and vacation rentals sits east of Page near the junction of Navajo Route 20 and US-98. Lower Antelope Canyon entrance at LeChee Chapter is four minutes by car. Upper Antelope Canyon is eight minutes. No chain hotels, mostly independents and short-term rentals. Dining is limited but the Navajo taco stand near Road 6 off Navajo Route 20 is the real deal. Booking windows are short and availability shifts fast. The location advantage before 8am photography tours is genuine. Guides working the canyon stay in this pocket.

How far is Page, AZ from Antelope Canyon?

Upper Antelope Canyon is 3 miles northeast of downtown Page off US-98. The drive takes 10 minutes. Lower Antelope Canyon is slightly closer, off Navajo Route 20, about 8 minutes from east Page. Both canyons are on Navajo Nation land and require a guided tour. Tours depart from the canyon entrances, not your hotel, so build in driving time when booking morning slots.

Do I need to stay in Page to visit Antelope Canyon?

Yes, for practical purposes. The nearest alternatives are Kanab, Utah (75 miles north) and Flagstaff, Arizona (130 miles south). Both mean a 2-hour round trip on tour day. Page puts you 10 minutes from the entrance. Tours start at 8am and sell out months in advance. Stay in Page, book your canyon tour at least 2 months ahead between April and October, hotel second.

What is the cheapest area to stay near Antelope Canyon?

South Page along US-89 has the lowest rates, averaging $80-130 a night. Budget motels and the Best Western Plus sit along this corridor. The trade-off is a 15-minute drive to Upper Antelope Canyon versus 10 minutes from the N Lake Powell Blvd strip. You also get walking distance to Horseshoe Bend Trailhead, cutting the shuttle fare. Book directly with the hotel. Third-party platforms add $15-30 to the same room.

When should I book hotels near Antelope Canyon?

Three months minimum for May through September. Page fills completely from Memorial Day through Labor Day. October and March are the sweet spots with lighter crowds, 60-75F temperatures, and rooms available 4-6 weeks out. December through February is off-season with rooms from $70 a night but reduced tour frequency. Canyon tour slots book faster than hotels. Lock in your tour first, then your room.
