High Rise Strip

Best beach access, highest prices, never quiet

Luxury $250-$600/night

J.E. Irausquin Boulevard from roughly address number 82 to 101 is the core of Palm Beach. The Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt anchor this stretch, all with direct beach frontage. Sun loungers rent for $25 a day. Pelican Pier sits midway and serves as the hub for jet ski rentals at $75 per 30 minutes and parasailing at $85. The Linear Park bicycle path runs the full length. Inside resort restaurants expect $30 for lunch. Walk two blocks inland on Palm Beach Road for half the price. DJ sets run Friday and Saturday nights from the beach bars near the Marriott.

Best for
Couples and honeymooners who want everything on-site and do not mind paying resort prices
Walk times
  • beach 2 min
  • water sports at Pelican Pier 6 min
  • Palm Beach Road dining 4 min
Skip if: You are traveling on a budget or need quiet evenings. Beach vendors and DJ sets start by 10am.
Local tip: The Marriott Stellaris Casino is open 24 hours and has the best free drinks policy on the strip for active players.

Low Rise Zone

Boutique hotels, calmer beach, still walkable

Mid-range $120-$250/night

From J.E. Irausquin Blvd addresses 60 to 80, the low rise zone transitions from resort towers to smaller boutique properties. Amsterdam Manor sits on the inland side of the road with a pool but no direct beach access. The beach is 200 meters across the road, far less crowded than the high rise section. Wilhelmina Straat connects you north toward the main strip in 12 minutes on foot. Local grocery Super Food Plaza on Palm Beach Road cuts food costs significantly. Fewer restaurants on the sand here, but several family-run spots on the back streets serve lunch plates for $12.

Best for
Families and couples who want Palm Beach proximity without the tower hotel atmosphere or the price tag
Walk times
  • beach 4 min
  • high rise strip restaurants 15 min
  • Super Food Plaza grocery 7 min
Skip if: You want a pool with a view or direct beach frontage from your room.
Local tip: Book Amsterdam Manor rooms facing the courtyard garden, not the road. Road-facing rooms get bus noise starting at 6am.

Noord Village

Local neighborhood, 10-minute drive to beach, cheapest rates

Mid-range $80-$150/night

Noord is the residential district directly behind Palm Beach, centered on Wilhelminastraat and Tanki Flip Road. No beach access from here but the bus to J.E. Irausquin Blvd runs every 20 minutes for around $2.50. The Aruba Butterfly Farm is a five-minute walk on Bubali Road. Grocery and pharmacy options are far better here than anywhere near the beach. Small locally-owned guesthouses run $80-120 per night including breakfast. The area is quiet, genuinely residential, and gives you a better read on how Arubans actually live. A taxi to Palm Beach costs around $12 one way.

Best for
Budget travelerssolo visitorsand anyone who wants local character over resort polish
Walk times
  • bus stop toward Palm Beach 5 min
  • Aruba Butterfly Farm on Bubali Road 5 min
  • local grocery on Wilhelminastraat 3 min
Skip if: You want to walk to the beach or stay out late. Taxis after midnight from Palm Beach back to Noord cost $15-20.
Local tip: Zeerovers fish shack near Savaneta serves the best fried fish on the island for under $10. From Noord it is a 20-minute drive worth making at least once.

Eagle Beach South

Widest beach in Aruba, fewer crowds, slightly removed

Luxury $180-$350/night

Eagle Beach begins at the south end of J.E. Irausquin Blvd and is consistently ranked among the Caribbean's top beaches. The sand is roughly 100 meters wide at low tide. Boutique resorts like Manchebo Beach Resort line the road with no building taller than two stories allowed by local zoning. The beach is practically empty before 9am and after 4pm. Manchebo Beach Road curves along the coast with several low-key bars serving local Balashi beer for $3. It is 3 kilometers from the heart of Palm Beach, a $7 taxi ride or a 35-minute walk along the Linear Park.

Best for
Couples seeking a quietermore romantic alternative to the crowded main strip with better natural beach quality
Walk times
  • Eagle Beach 3 min
  • Manchebo Beach Road bars 5 min
  • Palm Beach Strip via Linear Park walk 35 min
Skip if: You want nightlife, casino access, or water sports within walking distance. Everything requires a taxi or bike ride.
Local tip: Rent a bicycle from Eagle Beach for $15 a day and cycle the Linear Park north to the strip. Cycling both ways beats a $14 round-trip taxi for short stays.

Is Palm Beach safe to walk at night?

The main J.E. Irausquin Blvd strip is well-lit and active until midnight. Noord village is quiet but uneventful after 10pm. Aruba has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the Caribbean. Standard precautions apply: do not leave bags on the beach unattended and use ATMs inside hotels, not the freestanding ones on Bubali Road.

High rise or low rise: which is better for first-timers?

High rise if you want everything on-site and are willing to pay for it. The Hilton and Marriott deliver a seamless experience but you pay $30 for breakfast and $25 for sun loungers. Low rise gives you quieter beach sections, cheaper accommodation, and the same Palm Beach location for roughly half the nightly rate. First-timers who do not need a swim-up bar consistently say the low rise zone surprised them positively.

How far is Palm Beach from Queen Beatrix International Airport?

Palm Beach is about 15 kilometers from the airport, a 20-minute drive in light traffic. Taxis from the airport are regulated at roughly $25-27 to the high rise strip. No Uber operates in Aruba. The Arubus runs from the airport to Palm Beach for around $2.50 but takes 40-45 minutes with stops. Most visitors take the taxi on arrival and bus back to save money.

Which Palm Beach area is best for families with young children?

The low rise zone wins for families. The beach is calmer and less crowded than the high rise section. Water stays shallow for about 50 meters out, making it safer for kids. Amsterdam Manor has a courtyard pool children love. Supermarkets are close for snacks and supplies. The high rise strip has more entertainment but also more beach vendors, DJ sets, and the noise that comes with that.
