Palm Beach Road is loud, fun, and built for people who want action from noon until 2am. Eagle Beach is 3 km south and operates at a completely different pace. If your idea of a great evening is dinner at Screaming Eagle restaurant and an early night with the sound of waves, Eagle Beach wins.
But if you're traveling with teenagers or you want a casino within stumbling distance, Palm Beach's High-Rise Hotel Zone along J.E. Irausquin Boulevard delivers that better. The price gap is real too: Palm Beach averages $180-280/night for a comparable room, while Eagle Beach runs $75-320/night depending on the property. Choose deliberately.
How to actually get around Eagle Beach without a car
The Arubus Route 2 runs along J.E. Irausquin Boulevard every 30 minutes and connects Eagle Beach North to downtown Oranjestad for about $2.50 per trip. Most hotels have a bus stop within a 5-minute walk. Taxis don't use meters in Aruba. rates are government-fixed, so a ride from Eagle Beach Central to Oranjestad costs a flat $18-22.
Renting a scooter from operators near Palm Beach is popular and runs about $35-45/day. The full coastal road from Eagle Beach south to Baby Beach in San Nicolas is a genuinely great day trip. Just know the road gets rough past Savaneta, so a car handles it better than a scooter.
Eagle Beach in high season: what actually changes
December through April is peak season, and prices jump hard. expect $149-450/night across the strip versus $89-250/night in the off-season. The beach gets noticeably busier around the Manchebo Beach end, especially on weekends in February when Aruba's Carnival brings visitors from across the Caribbean. Book at least 3 months ahead if you want a specific beachfront property.
The upside of high season is that the northeast trade winds are at their strongest, which keeps temperatures at a reliable 27-29°C and keeps the mosquitoes away. The water is also at its clearest, which matters if you're planning any snorkeling day trips off the north coast near Malmok.
Where to eat within walking distance of Eagle Beach hotels
Screaming Eagle is the must-visit: it's on J.E. Irausquin Boulevard at the Manchebo Beach end, about a 10-minute walk south from most Eagle Beach Central hotels. The food is good but the setting. low beds, lanterns, Balinese décor. is what people actually go for. Reservations are required; don't show up and expect a table.
For something cheaper, Zeerovers in Savaneta is a 15-minute drive east but one of the best local fish experiences on the island. You pick your fish, they fry it in front of you, and nothing costs more than $10. It's cash only and closes by 6pm, so plan accordingly.

Budget means Aruba Beach Club at $75-99/night: functional, clean, genuine beach access, no frills. Mid-range runs from Amsterdam Manor's boutique rooms at $89-130/night up to Costa Linda's apartment-style suites at $150-240/night. Luxury starts at Bucuti & Tara ($149-320/night) and peaks at Riu Palace Antillas at $310-520/night, which is one of the pricier all-inclusives in this part of the Caribbean.
The mid-range is actually where Eagle Beach delivers best value. Paradise Beach Villas at $120-190/night gives you a full kitchen, more space than most hotel rooms, and a short walk to the water. We'd pick that over a cramped room at a luxury property any day if you're staying more than 4 nights.
What nobody tells you before booking Eagle Beach
Wind is a feature, not a bug. The northeast trade winds blow almost every day along J.E. Irausquin Boulevard, which is why temperatures stay comfortable even in summer. But it does mean that beach umbrellas get shredded, and the Manchebo Beach end. being slightly more sheltered. fills up early. Arrive by 9am if you want a good spot.
Also: Aruba runs on a 110V/60Hz power system, same as the US and Canada. European travelers need adapters. And tipping is expected at around 15-18% in restaurants. it's not included in most hotel restaurant bills even if the menu implies it is. Check before you hand over your card.
