Hotel Riu Palace Boavista
Hotel Riu Palace Boavista sits right on Dunas Beach along the Atlantic coast, and it earns its five-star rating without much argument. It's casual in feel despite the luxury trappings, which makes the whole all-inclusive setup feel relaxed rather than stiff. You're just 2 km from Aristides Pereira International Airport, so arrival is painless. Rooms come with balconies or terraces, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and safes. Upgrade to a room with a private plunge pool if you can. Dining runs to four options including Japanese and fusion restaurants, plus a sports bar for something more low-key. The pools are a genuine highlight: outdoor swim-up bars, a dedicated kids' pool, and a spa with an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. You can scuba dive, browse the boutique, or burn time in the game room. One honest caveat: minimum-stay rules may apply, so confirm your booking window before you commit.

Casa da Djedja
Casa da Djedja sits on Rua Unidade Africana in Mindelo, Cape Verde, and carries the calm, unhurried feel of a place that knows exactly what it is. It's not trying to impress you with flash. What it offers is straightforward and well-executed: breakfast (buffet included), reliable Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a bar with table service. You can eat before you do anything else, which is always a good start. Room service means you're not forced out of your room if you'd rather keep things low-key. Getting here is easy too, since an airport shuttle is available. Parking on-site removes one headache entirely. Payment is flexible: cards and cash both work. Mindelo itself is walkable and has real character, and this place fits that mood without overcomplicating things. Guests consistently rate it among the best the city has to offer, so the reputation is earned. If you want honest hospitality without unnecessary fuss, this is a strong pick.

Barceló Praia Cape Verde
Barceló Praia Cape Verde carries the weight of a five-star address in the Praínha neighborhood, and it earns that status with a calm, unhurried feel that sets the tone from arrival. The hotel sits on Av. Rotary International in Praia, with direct beach access putting the Atlantic right at your doorstep. Guests consistently highlight the spa, pool, and fitness center as standout features, and with an elliptical machine confirmed on-site, the gym is a real option rather than an afterthought. You can swim before breakfast, since both the pool and a breakfast buffet are available. Dining stays flexible too: there's a full restaurant with table service, a bar, and room service if you'd rather stay put. The front desk handles concierge requests and currency exchange, which is genuinely useful in Cape Verde. Housekeeping and turndown service give the place a polished, attentive feel. The hotel is kid-friendly, so families won't feel out of place. Our honest caveat: if you prefer a gritty, local experience over a polished resort bubble, this isn't your base.

Hotel Morabeza
Hotel Morabeza has the kind of laid-back, rustic-chic character that makes you want to slow down the moment you arrive. It sits in Santa Maria, Cape Verde, just a 3-minute walk from the beach. That's the detail that matters most here. Rooms and suites come with balconies or terraces, sea or garden views, satellite TV, minifridges, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Suites add a living room if you need the extra space. The hotel runs three restaurants, including beachfront dining, and three bars, so you're never far from a cold drink or a proper meal. Two tennis courts, three outdoor pools, and a game room with two snooker tables and table tennis keep things lively without feeling overwhelming. The airport is 17 km away, and the hotel offers an airport shuttle, which is a genuine convenience. The hotel is also kid-friendly, with a pool setup and game room that give younger travelers plenty to do. If beach access and relaxed dining are your priorities, this place delivers both without fuss.

ANIMOSS! APARTMENTS - 10 modern apartments near city center beach - Two-Bedroom Apartment
Near-perfect 4.95 score, but 16 reviews is a thin sample. Still, the two-bedroom layout is ideal for families or couples splitting costs. Close to Santa Maria's main beach without hotel markups, at $110. Self-catering works well here: grab fresh fish from the local market on Rua 1 de Junho and skip the restaurant bill entirely.

Hotel RIU Karamboa
Hotel RIU Karamboa sits right on Dunas Beach along the North Atlantic, and it commits fully to the all-inclusive format. The Middle Eastern-style architecture gives it a distinctive, almost theatrical character that stands apart from the usual beach resort aesthetic. You're just 2 km from Aristides Pereira International Airport, so arrival is painless. Rooms come with satellite TV and minifridges, and many have balconies or terraces. Upgrade for ocean views or a suite with a whirlpool tub if you want to push the experience further. Meals and drinks are covered at the buffet restaurant and multiple bars, and there's an a la carte option if you feel like something more structured (extra fee applies). The outdoor pool has a swim-up bar and hot tub, there's a spa and gym, tennis courts, a play area, and live entertainment most evenings. You can also snorkel, scuba dive, or go horseback riding without leaving the resort's orbit. The vibe is lively but polished. One honest caveat: if you prefer a quiet, low-key retreat, all that programming can feel like a lot.

The Casamarel Hotel
The Casamarel Hotel sits in Mindelo, Cape Verde, and carries the kind of calm confidence you notice immediately. The rating from guests is strong, which tells you something real about consistency. You get a restaurant and bar on-site, so meals and drinks don't require leaving the property. Breakfast is available, and room service means you can eat on your own schedule. For adventurous guests, snorkeling and scuba are both on offer, which makes sense given Cape Verde's coastal setting. The hotel is kid-friendly and offers babysitting, so traveling with children is genuinely workable here. Practical touches matter too: parking is available, currency exchange is on-site, and the front desk handles concierge needs and baggage storage. Laundry service and housekeeping keep longer stays comfortable. The social hour is a nice detail, giving the place an unhurried, communal feel rather than a transactional one. Our honest caveat: official descriptions are sparse, so go in with an open mind and let the place speak for itself.

Pestana Trópico
Pestana Trópico sits above Porto da Praia harbor in the Praínha neighborhood, and the red tile roof gives it an unhurried, sun-warmed character that matches Cape Verde's pace. The saltwater outdoor pool is a genuine highlight. Rooms are airy with tropical accents, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Some have balconies and harbor views, which we'd strongly recommend requesting. Suites step it up with separate living areas or loft bedrooms if you want more space. The on-site restaurant serves Cape Verdean and Portuguese fare, and the colorful bar keeps those harbor views front and center. Gamboa Beach is a short walk away, and the hotel offers snorkeling and scuba for anyone who wants to get in the water. Families will find kid-friendly facilities here, and there's parking plus an airport shuttle if you're arriving with luggage and no patience for hassle. One honest caveat: the nightclub on-site means weekend nights could run loud, so light sleepers should ask about room placement.

Hotel Riu Cabo Verde
Hotel Riu Cabo Verde sits right on a North Atlantic Ocean beach in Santa Maria, and the adults-only policy keeps things calm and unhurried throughout. It's a five-star all-inclusive, so the question of "what's included" has a very generous answer. Four restaurants, five bars, and a cafe handle your meals and drinks, with a breakfast buffet and buffet dinners among the options. Rooms come with flat-screens, Wi-Fi, balconies or terraces, minibars, and sofas. Upgrade your room and you get a pull-out couch; book a suite and you get a separate living room. The private beach area has sunloungers, and water sports like snorkeling and scuba are on hand when you want them. Evenings get lively, with live entertainment, a casino, and nightclub access at a neighboring property. Guests also get free use of the spa, pool, and gym next door. The Viveiro Botanical Garden is 4 km away if you want a reason to leave the property. Honestly, given everything included, leaving might be the hardest part.

Damfjord Boutique Hotel
Damfjord Boutique Hotel sits on Santa Maria in Cape Verde, and the three-star rating undersells how much this place delivers. The vibe is calm and unhurried, which fits the island perfectly. Guests consistently call out the breakfast, the pool, and the Wi-Fi as standouts, and we'd agree those three alone make mornings here genuinely easy. You can swim before breakfast, which is a small luxury that stacks up quickly over a week. Rooms come with air conditioning, a minibar, and a private bathroom with shower, so you're not roughing it. The hotel accepts cards and cash, which is handy in a destination where flexibility matters. Beyond the property, the activities list is unusually long: scuba, horseback riding, golf, bicycle rental, and a casino are all on offer. An airport shuttle and local shuttle mean you don't have to figure out transport on arrival. One honest caveat: with only a handful of reviews so far, the consistency picture is still forming. Go in with reasonable expectations and you'll likely leave impressed.

היכן לשהות ב Cabo Verde
השכונה שתבחרו חשובה יותר מהמלון עצמו.
Sal vs. Boa Vista: which island is right for you?
Sal is the busier, more developed option. Santa Maria has a real town behind it. restaurants on Rua 1 de Junho, a fish market, surf schools, and nightlife that actually goes past 10pm. Boa Vista is the opposite: calmer, emptier, with Praia de Chaves stretching for kilometers without a sun-lounger in sight.
If this is your first time in Cabo Verde and you want convenience plus beach, pick Sal. If you've been before, or if crowds genuinely bother you, Boa Vista is the upgrade. The hotels on Boa Vista also tend to deliver better value. Odjo d'Agua Hotel on Praia de Chaves is a perfect example of that.
The real deal on Cabo Verde's weather
The archipelago sits in the Atlantic off Senegal, so the climate is dry and warm almost year-round. November through June stays at 22-26°C with reliable sun and the northeast trade winds making beach days genuinely comfortable. July through October brings the bruma seca. a Saharan dust haze that softens the light and occasionally drops visibility.
Rain is rare and short. When it does rain, it's usually a 20-minute shower on Santiago or Fogo, not the all-day downpour you'd get in southern Europe. Don't let the low-season classification scare you off the shoulder months. October and November often have near-perfect conditions and hotel prices 30-40% lower than peak.
How to get around without overpaying
Inter-island flights with TACV and Binter are the fastest option and prices are reasonable if you book 3-4 weeks out. Sal to Boa Vista runs about $50-70 one way. The ferry CV Interilhas is the affordable alternative for the São Vicente to Santo Antão crossing, which costs under $10 and takes 35 minutes across the channel from Porto Grande.
On Sal, aluguers (shared minibuses) run from Espargos to Santa Maria for around $1.50 and leave from the main square when full. Taxis are plentiful but negotiate before you get in. the ride from Sal airport to Santa Maria should be $15-20, not the $30 some drivers will quote.
Where to eat beyond your hotel restaurant
The cachupa is what you're after. it's the national dish, a slow-cooked stew of corn, beans, and whatever meat is around. In Mindelo, the market stalls near Mercado Municipal serve it for breakfast for under $3. On Sal, Restaurante Chez Pastis on Rua 1 de Junho does a solid version and is a 5-minute walk from most Santa Maria hotels.
Fresh fish is everywhere and almost always worth ordering. Skip the tourist menus near the main beach promenade in Santa Maria. the prices jump 40% and the quality drops. Walk one block back to the local restaurants on the streets parallel to the beach and you'll eat better for half the price.
What nobody tells you before you book
Air conditioning is not guaranteed even in mid-range hotels. On Sal and Boa Vista the trade winds usually keep rooms cool enough, but always confirm AC if you're booking between July and September. We've seen this mistake hundreds of times. a $150/night room with no fan in August is nobody's idea of a holiday.
The EASE travel authorization is mandatory for most visitors and needs to be done before arrival. It costs around $30 and takes 48 hours. don't leave it for the night before your flight. Also: tap water is desalinated on most islands and safe to drink, but the taste is unusual enough that most visitors buy bottled water anyway.
The islands worth skipping (and the ones that aren't)
Santo Antão is spectacular for hiking. the Paul Valley between Ribeira Grande and Ponta do Sol is one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Atlantic. But there are no vetted beach hotels here, and the ferry from Mindelo is the only way across. It's a day trip destination, not a base.
Brava is the greenest, most remote island and genuinely beautiful. The problem is getting there: the ferry from Fogo runs infrequently and cancels in bad weather. São Nicolau sits in the middle ground. Spinguera Ecolodge on Praia Barril is about the best reason to make the trip, and it delivers on every front.

Cabo Verde's most popular island for a reason. beach, wind, and real town life.
Santa Maria is the center of everything on Sal. Praia de Santa Maria runs for 3 km, the water is turquoise and shallow, and the town behind it has enough restaurants and bars to keep you busy for a week without repeating yourself. It's the most developed tourist zone in Cabo Verde, which means convenience. but also crowds in December through February.
The windsurf and kitesurf scene on Sal is world-class. The flat-water lagoon at Kite Beach, just east of Santa Maria, draws pros and beginners alike from October through June. Most of the beach hotels are positioned within 5-10 minutes walk of this strip.
Avoid staying in Espargos, the capital 18 km north. It's cheaper, yes, but there's no beach, the restaurant scene is thin, and taxis to Santa Maria cost $15-20 every time. The savings aren't worth the daily logistics.

Quieter than Sal, better beaches, and hotels that actually deliver value.
Boa Vista is flatter and drier than most of the archipelago, which sounds like a downside until you're standing on Praia de Chaves with virtually nobody else around. Sal Rei, the island's only town, is small enough to walk end to end in 20 minutes. but it has a decent main square, a fish market, and a handful of good local restaurants on Rua Amilcar Cabral.
The two hotels here represent some of the best value in the entire country. Odjo d'Agua on Praia de Chaves consistently tops our ratings for a reason, and Hotel Tortuga Beach Resort on Praia de Santa Ana isn't far behind. Both sit directly on their respective beaches with no road to cross.
One thing to know: Boa Vista has almost no public transport. Renting a quad bike or 4x4 for a day costs $60-80 and is the only sensible way to reach the deserted beaches on the east coast. Factor that into your budget.

The cultural capital of Cabo Verde. Mindelo is unlike anywhere else in the archipelago.
Mindelo punches way above its weight for a city of 80,000 people. The harbor at Porto Grande is one of the most beautiful natural ports in the Atlantic, Rua de Lisboa is lined with colonial-era buildings, and the music scene. morna, coladeira, funaná. spills out of bars most nights of the week. This is where Cesária Évora grew up, and the city hasn't forgotten it.
Hotels here range from the no-frills Pensão Residencial Chez Loutcha in the Centro neighborhood to the polished Hotel Porto Grande on Rua Baltasar Lopes da Silva. The difference between $45 and $170 a night buys you a lot more style, but both put you within 10 minutes walk of the main attractions.
The beach situation is the one honest caveat. Laginha Beach is pleasant but small. it's a 10-minute walk from most Centro hotels. For serious beach days, you'll need to rent a car or take a taxi north to Baia das Gatas, about 12 km out.

Santiago is where Cape Verdean history actually happened. Cidade Velha, a 30-minute drive from the capital Praia, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first European colonial city in the tropics. The cobbled streets of Rua Banana and the ruins of the Sé Catedral are genuinely moving. not in a tourist-brochure way, but in a 'this actually matters' way.
Assomada, the market town in the island's central highlands, is a different world from the beach resorts. Residential Marilú sits here and attracts travelers who want to understand Cabo Verde rather than just sunbathe in it. The Serra Malagueta Natural Park is 20 minutes north by taxi.
Praia, the capital, is worth a half-day but not a base. The Plateau neighborhood (Platô) has good restaurants and the National Museum on Rua Serpa Pinto, but the city sprawl around it is unglamorous. Stay in Assomada or the historic zone and day-trip to Praia.

Pico do Fogo rises to 2,829m and it's the dominant presence on this island in every sense. São Filipe, the main town, sits on a cliff above the black-sand beach with views across to Brava and colonial-era sobrados lining the streets around Praça Dr. Sereno de Pina. It's one of the most photogenic towns in Cabo Verde.

The town of Ribeira Brava in the island's interior is a 35-minute drive through dramatic valleys and is well worth the detour.
Getting here takes commitment: a flight from Santiago or Sal to Preguiça airport (SNE), then a taxi to Tarrafal. Budget 4-6 hours of total travel time from Sal. That friction is a filter. the people who make it tend to be exactly the kind of travelers you want to be around.
The ecolodge prices ($290-450/night) reflect the remoteness, the quality, and the fact that everything has to be brought to the island. It's worth every cent if your idea of luxury is silence, a pristine beach, and a meal made from ingredients sourced that morning.

Romantic Escape
Praia de Santa Maria on Sal sets the scene. sunsets over the Atlantic, boutique rooms, and a beach that goes dark enough at night to actually see stars. Hotel Morabeza has built its whole identity around this and it shows.
Cultural Immersion
Mindelo's Centro neighborhood on São Vicente is the cultural heartbeat of the archipelago. Morna music, colonial architecture, and the ghost of Cesária Évora around every corner. it's genuinely unlike anywhere else.
Family Holiday
Praia de Santa Maria on Sal is the obvious family call. shallow warm water, no waves to speak of, and Dunas de Sal Resort positioned right on the beach with the kind of facilities that actually keep kids occupied.
Budget Travel
Mindelo Centro on São Vicente gives you the most for the least. At $45-75/night, Pensão Residencial Chez Loutcha puts you 8 minutes walk from Porto Grande harbor and within range of everything that makes this city worth visiting.
Beach & Water Sports
Praia de Chaves on Boa Vista is the purest beach experience in Cabo Verde. kilometers of white sand, warm water, and enough wind for serious kitesurfing. Odjo d'Agua Hotel sits right on it.
Food & Local Culture
Assomada's market on Santiago island is the real foodie destination. local vendors, fresh produce from the highlands, and cachupa prepared the way it was meant to be. Saturday market day is essential.
איך בדקנו את המלונות האלה
כל מלון ברשימה זו עבר את אותה הערכה. הנה בדיוק איך אנחנו מדרגים אותם.
We reviewed 8,000+ options across the main islands of Cabo Verde. We cut anything with misleading beachfront photos. and there are plenty of those on Sal. We dropped resorts that claim 'direct beach access' but put you a 15-minute walk from the water. Overpriced guesthouses in Mindelo's backstreets that charge city-center rates for a room with a ceiling fan? Gone. What's left are places that deliver on what they promise.

Peak Season (Dec-Feb)
Christmas and New Year fill Sal and Boa Vista completely. book 3 months out or pay whatever's left. Mindelo's Carnival in February is the cultural highlight of the year, drawing crowds from across the diaspora. Expect surcharges of 30-50% above standard rates at hotels in Santa Maria and Sal Rei throughout this window.
Sweet Spot (Mar-May)
This is the best time to visit, full stop. Temperatures are ideal at 22-27°C, the trade winds are consistent enough for kitesurfing without being exhausting, and prices sit 20-30% below December highs. Easter week does cause a short spike. Santa Maria hotels can jump $40-60/night for that single week, so plan around it if you're budget-conscious.
Low Season (Jun-Sep)
The bruma seca haze arrives from the Sahara and visibility drops, but temperatures are warm and the beaches are quiet. Mindelact Theatre Festival in September brings performers from across the Lusophone world to São Vicente. it's one of the best weeks to be in Mindelo. Hotel prices across the archipelago hit their floor between June and August, sometimes 40% below peak.
Shoulder Season (Oct-Nov)
October and November are the secret months. the dust has cleared, temperatures sit at a comfortable 24-28°C, and most Europeans haven't started booking yet. You'll find mid-range rooms on Sal for $90-130/night that cost $200+ in January. Fogo and São Nicolau are particularly good in November when the island interiors are still slightly green from any rainfall.
איך להזמין מלונות ב Cabo Verde
אסטרטגיות הזמנה חכמות לCabo Verde.
Book inter-island flights before your hotel
TACV and Binter Canarias routes sell out fast in December-February, and once the flights are gone, your hotel on Boa Vista is stranded. Lock in flights first. Sal to Boa Vista runs $50-70 if you book 3-4 weeks out, but climbs to $120+ in the final week. The ferry from São Vicente to Santo Antão is a reliable backup for that specific crossing.
Understand what 'beachfront' actually means
In Cabo Verde, 'beachfront' can mean anything from a sun lounger on the sand to a 15-minute walk through scrub to reach the water. Always check the satellite map on Google before confirming. On Sal, only the hotels actually on Praia de Santa Maria deliver on the claim. properties on the north side of Santa Maria town are 10-20 minutes from the waterline.
Negotiate taxi fares before you get in
There are no meters in Cabo Verde. The Sal airport to Santa Maria run should cost $15-20; drivers will sometimes quote $30 to new arrivals. In Mindelo, most rides within Centro should be $3-5. If a driver won't name a price before you get in, find another one. this isn't a recommendation, it's the rule.
Carnival week in Mindelo books out 4 months ahead
Mindelo Carnival, held in February, is legitimately one of the best in Africa and it fills every hotel in São Vicente within days of the dates being confirmed. Hotel Porto Grande on Rua Baltasar Lopes da Silva and Pensão Chez Loutcha in Centro both sell out. If you're targeting this week, set a calendar alert for when dates drop. usually October the year before.
All-inclusive works differently here than in Spain
On Sal at resorts like Riu Palace Cabo Verde, all-inclusive actually saves money because you're already on Praia de Santa Maria and restaurant options within walking distance are patchy in quality. On Boa Vista and São Vicente, skip the all-inclusive and eat where the locals eat. you'll spend $15-25 per meal instead and the food will be significantly better.
Confirm air conditioning before you arrive in summer
Between July and September, temperatures in the Saharan dust period can reach 30-32°C with humidity. Many guesthouses in Mindelo and Assomada don't have AC. the trade winds usually do the job on the coast, but interior islands get properly hot. Always ask the property directly, not just check the listing: 'fan' and 'air conditioning' are listed interchangeably by some places.

תשובות ישירות מהצוות שלנו.
Which island in Cabo Verde has the best hotels?
Sal and Boa Vista dominate for beach resorts, with Praia de Santa Maria and Praia de Chaves consistently delivering the goods. São Vicente is the pick if you want culture alongside comfort. Mindelo's Rua Baltasar Lopes da Silva has options from $45 to $170/night. Fogo is criminally underrated for anyone chasing volcano landscapes over poolside loungers.
What's the best time of year to visit Cabo Verde?
November through June is your sweet spot. temperatures sit at 22-26°C and the trade winds keep things comfortable. July through October brings the Saharan dust (called bruma seca) and occasional rains, which pushes hotel rates down to $45-130/night on Sal. The Mindelact theatre festival in September draws crowds to São Vicente and books out Mindelo fast.
Is Cabo Verde expensive for tourists?
It depends entirely on which island and which type of place. Budget guesthouses in Assomada on Santiago island run $55-85/night, while all-inclusive resorts on Praia de Santa Maria hit $260-420/night. A local grogue rum at a bar on Rua de Lisboa in Mindelo costs under $2. so eating and drinking outside your hotel keeps costs very manageable.
Do I need a visa to visit Cabo Verde?
Most nationalities need a EASE (Electronic Authorization of Entry) pre-registration, which costs around $30 and takes 48 hours to process online. EU, US, and UK passport holders get this on arrival or online before travel. Always check the official Cabo Verde immigration portal before booking. requirements shift a few times a year.
How do I get between the islands?
TACV and Binter Canarias fly inter-island, with Sal to Santiago taking about 35 minutes and costing $40-80 one way. The ferry CV Interilhas connects São Vicente to Santo Antão in 35 minutes for under $10, which is the classic route. Avoid relying on ferries between major islands for tight connections. delays are common and schedules change seasonally.
Which area of Sal island should I stay in?
Santa Maria is the answer for almost everyone. The strip along Praia de Santa Maria puts you within 5 minutes walk of the beach, the fish market on Rua 1 de Junho, and most of the restaurants. Espargos, the island's capital, is cheaper but 18 km from the beach. not worth it unless you have a specific reason to be there.
What's Boa Vista island like for hotels?
Boa Vista is quieter than Sal and the beaches are genuinely better. Praia de Chaves and Praia de Santa Ana are two of the best in the Atlantic. Sal Rei, the main town, has most of the mid-range and luxury options, with prices from $160-250/night. The island has almost no traffic, which makes it ideal if you want a genuine slow-down.
Are all-inclusive hotels worth it in Cabo Verde?
On Sal, probably yes. The restaurants outside the Santa Maria resort zone are inconsistent in quality, and local taxis to town from outlying resorts run $8-15 each way. At Riu Palace Cabo Verde, you're already on Praia de Santa Maria, so going all-inclusive saves money without trapping you. On Boa Vista or São Vicente, skip the all-inclusive and eat local.
Is Cabo Verde safe for solo travelers?
Yes, for the most part. Mindelo and Santa Maria are both very walkable and relaxed, even after dark. The one area to be careful about is the stretch behind the bus terminal in Praia, Santiago's capital. petty theft happens there and it's not somewhere to linger at night. Keep your phone in your pocket around busy markets.
What language is spoken in Cabo Verde?
Portuguese is the official language, but Kriolu (Cape Verdean Creole) is what everyone actually speaks day to day. In tourist areas like Santa Maria and Sal Rei, English is widely understood at hotels and restaurants. Outside the main tourist strips, a handful of Portuguese phrases go a very long way.
When do hotel prices peak in Cabo Verde?
Christmas and New Year are the most expensive weeks of the year. expect $200-420/night even at mid-range properties on Sal. February also spikes hard thanks to European winter escapes and Mindelo's Carnival, which is one of the best in Africa. Book those weeks at least 3 months out or you'll pay premium rates for what's left.
Can I find good budget accommodation in Cabo Verde?
Yes, but mostly on Santiago and São Vicente, not on the beach resort islands. Pensão Residencial Chez Loutcha in Mindelo Centro goes for $45-75/night and puts you 8 minutes walk from Porto Grande harbor. Trying to find genuine budget rooms on Sal is frustrating. the cheapest places there are usually $90+ once you add taxes.
