Cocody is the go-to for most travelers and for good reason. The Riviera area has the best restaurants, the streets around Deux Plateaux are walkable, and hotels here give you access to the lagoon without the gridlock of Plateau. You're 25 minutes from the airport on a good morning.
Plateau is the business district. fine for work trips, less interesting for leisure. Marcory and Zone 4 are worth considering if nightlife matters to you; the strip along Boulevard Valéry Giscard d'Estaing runs late. Skip the Adjamé area entirely for overnight stays. the market buzz is fun by day but it's not a place to base yourself.

You're surrounded by offices and banks, restaurants close early, and you'll spend 20-30 minutes in traffic to get anywhere interesting. Pay the same or slightly more for Cocody and you'll thank yourself by day two.
CFA cash matters outside Abidjan
ATMs in Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, and Man are less reliable than in Abidjan. Société Générale and Ecobank branches exist in Bouaké's Centre-ville, but withdrawal limits are strict at 200,000-300,000 XOF. Pull enough cash before leaving Abidjan. Most hotels outside the capital accept cash only. even nicer ones.
