Antigua Village Beach Resort

Runaway Bay, St. John's ₪200 – ₪320/לילה המחירים משוערים ומשתנים בהתאם לעונה 10/10

This small property sits directly on Runaway Bay, which is rare at this price point in Antigua. Rooms are basic and could use a refresh, but they are clean and the beds are comfortable. The beach access is the real selling point, and you can walk to a few local restaurants within ten minutes. Staff are friendly and helpful with arranging water taxis and tours. Good option if you want a beachfront base without spending a fortune.

Cocos is a small adults-only property perched on a hillside above Valley Church Bay on the southwest coast. The views from the wooden cottages are genuinely spectacular and the sunsets here are hard to beat. It is not a traditional beach resort since you take a short path down to the water, but the beach itself is quiet and uncrowded. The restaurant focuses on fresh local seafood and does it well. A great choice for couples wanting something intimate and away from the busier resort areas.

This historic property overlooks Freeman's Bay and is a short walk from Nelson's Dockyard, one of the most visited sites in Antigua. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, with a beach bar and two pools. Rooms in the hillside section have better views, so it is worth requesting one of those at booking. The bar and restaurant attract both guests and visiting yacht crews, giving the place a lively atmosphere in the evenings. It strikes a good balance between comfort, location, and character.

Blue Waters sits on a private stretch of the north coast near Dickenson Bay, surrounded by tropical gardens and facing a calm turquoise bay. The resort has a mix of rooms, suites, and villas, and the villa options with private plunge pools are particularly impressive. Three restaurants cover a range of dining styles from casual beach fare to more formal Caribbean cuisine. The spa is well equipped and the staff throughout the property are consistently praised by guests. It is a full-service resort that delivers on almost every front.

Cottages are simple but charming, and the all-inclusive package covers meals, drinks, and non-motorised water sports. The property is small with only sixteen cottages, so it retains an intimate, personal feel that larger resorts cannot match. Sunsets from the beach are exceptional given the west-facing position. The all-inclusive rate covers everything including transfers, dining at multiple restaurants, and all activities. Beaches on the island are immaculate and almost entirely private. Rooms are straightforward and no-frills, but the air conditioning works well and the wi-fi is reliable. The in-house restaurant serves solid local breakfasts that are better than you might expect. This is a practical city-centre base for travellers who plan to spend most of their time exploring the island. Not a beach hotel, but a good value pick for a short stay.

The hotel sits on a dramatic bluff between two beaches, Morris Bay on one side and a rougher Atlantic-facing beach on the other. היכן לשהות ב Antigua and Barbuda

השכונה שתבחרו חשובה יותר מהמלון עצמו.

First time in Antigua? Start here.

Dickenson Bay is the obvious first-timer base. The beach is long and calm, you can walk from your hotel to a dozen restaurants on Dickenson Bay Road, and the north coast trade winds keep it cooler than the south. It's not the most dramatic part of the island, but it works.

Once you're settled, rent a car for one day and drive the Fig Tree Drive loop through the rainforest to reach English Harbour and Shirley Heights. That drive alone shows you more of Antigua than 3 days on a beach chair ever will. Budget about $60-80 for a day rental and do it mid-week to avoid the Shirley Heights Sunday barbecue crowd.

English Harbour: the part of Antigua that actually has character.

Nelson's Dockyard is a genuine UNESCO World Heritage Site, not just a marina with a gift shop. The restored Georgian naval buildings at Freeman's Bay date to the 1740s, and the whole area around Dockyard Drive is walkable, interesting, and full of good restaurants. The Inn at English Harbour sits right on the edge of this. you're 5 minutes on foot from the Dockyard gates.

Shirley Heights Lookout is a 15-minute drive up the ridge from the harbour and delivers the best view in Antigua. Go on a Sunday for the barbecue party and stay for sunset. Rum punch starts at $5 EC and the view over English Harbour and Montserrat on a clear day is legitimately stunning.

The south coast: Antigua's quieter, more beautiful side.

Most first-timers never make it past Dickenson Bay. That's a mistake. The south and southwest coast. from Carlisle Bay through Morris Bay and down to Valley Church. has better beaches, calmer water, and almost no cruise ship crowds. Carlisle Bay hotel sits on a beach so perfectly sheltered it looks fake.

Cocos Hotel up in Valley Church is the other south-coast gem. It's perched on a hillside above the beach, which sounds like a con but the sea views from the terraces are worth the 3-minute walk down. Valley Church Beach itself is one of the least visited on the island despite being genuinely world-class.

Sailing Week and when to avoid English Harbour.

Antigua Sailing Week happens in late April every year and it is spectacular to watch. It is also the single worst week to book a hotel if you're not there for sailing. Every property within 10 miles of Falmouth Harbour triples in price, parking disappears, and the restaurants are slammed from 11am onwards. Book 6+ months ahead or skip that specific week entirely.

The flip side: early May, right after Sailing Week ends, is one of the best times to visit English Harbour. Prices drop, the weather is still brilliant at 27-29°C, and you get a lively marina atmosphere without the race chaos. Hotels that were $300+/night drop back to $150-180/night almost immediately.

Jumby Bay and Curtain Bluff: when money is no object.

Jumby Bay Island is a 300-acre private island off Antigua's northeast coast near Long Island. The 7-minute boat transfer from the mainland isn't just a gimmick. It genuinely separates you from everything. At $1,500-2,500/night you're getting all meals included, near-empty beaches, and a level of quiet that's hard to find anywhere in the Caribbean.

Curtain Bluff in Morris Bay is different but equally serious. It's on the mainland but feels removed, with a clifftop setting above two beaches and a wine cellar that's been cited as one of the best in the region. At $650-1,200/night it's all-inclusive and the food is actually worth the price, which isn't something we say lightly.

Getting the timing right: Antigua by season.

December through April is peak season for good reason. Temperatures hold at 24-27°C, rain is minimal, and the trade winds make even full-sun days comfortable. That's also when prices peak at $175-245/night for mid-range and $650+ for luxury. Book early or pay the last-minute premium.

August and September are hurricane months and some smaller hotels close entirely. But June and July are genuinely underrated: temperatures sit at 27-30°C, crowds thin out sharply, and you can often find the same mid-range rooms for $100-130/night. Caribbean Summer Carnival happens in late July in St. John's, which adds a nice bonus for the brave souls who visit in low season.

English Harbour is where you want to be if you care about atmosphere, history, and actual good restaurants within walking distance. Dickenson Bay is the easy, pretty choice for first-timers who just want sand and calm water.

English Harbour and Falmouth 1 מלון מאומת

Historic, atmospheric, and the most interesting corner of the island.

English Harbour is where Antigua earns its reputation. Nelson's Dockyard at Freeman's Bay is a working marina inside a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is a genuinely unusual combination. The restaurants on Dockyard Drive. from Catherines Café to the Admiral's Inn dining room. are better than anything in St. John's.

The Inn at English Harbour sits right at the edge of Freeman's Bay, about 5 minutes walk from the Dockyard entrance. This is our only vetted pick in the area, but it's a strong one. The location is the real selling point: Shirley Heights is a 15-minute drive, Falmouth Harbour is 10 minutes on foot, and you can watch superyachts come and go from the terrace.

Avoid booking anything marketed as 'English Harbour area' that's actually up on the ridge above Liberta or along the road to All Saints. Those properties are 20+ minutes from the harbour by car and lose all the location benefit. If the hotel doesn't mention Dockyard Drive or Freeman's Bay by name, ask exactly where it is before you book.

Best areas Freeman's Bay, Falmouth Harbour
Price range $150-220/night
Best for History lovers, sailors, couples, restaurant seekers
Avoid Ridge properties above Liberta. 20+ min from harbour, no walkability
Best months November-April, early May

Dickenson Bay and the North Coast 2 מלונות מאומתים

The easiest beach base. calm water, good restaurants, and no rental car required.

Dickenson Bay is Antigua's most accessible beach strip and that's not a criticism. The water is flat and clear, the beach is wide, and Dickenson Bay Road has enough bars and restaurants that you can spend a week here without needing to venture far. Siboney Beach Club and Blue Waters Resort are both in this zone, sitting at different price points but sharing the same reliable north-coast setup.

Blue Waters on the North Coast past Soldiers Point is slightly more removed. about 10 minutes by car from the main Dickenson Bay strip. but it's bigger, has a proper spa, and the beach at Soldado is genuinely quieter. Siboney is right in the action on Dickenson Bay itself, which suits couples who want to walk to dinner without planning it like a military operation.

The one trap in this area: cheaper hotels on the inland side of Dickenson Bay Road. Some market themselves as 'near Dickenson Bay' when they're a 15-minute walk from the sand across a fairly uninspiring stretch. Our two picks are both legitimately on or near the water.

Best areas Dickenson Bay, Soldado Beach
Price range $130-245/night
Best for Beach holidays, couples, first-timers, water sports
Avoid Inland-side hotels on the back of Dickenson Bay Road. overstated beach access
Best months December-April

Old Road, Carlisle Bay and the South Coast 3 מלונות מאומתים

Quieter, prettier, and home to three of our best-rated picks.

The south coast is the part of Antigua most visitors miss and most regulars protect fiercely. Old Road village is the jumping-off point for Carlisle Bay, Morris Bay, and Valley Church. three distinct stretches of coastline that are collectively better than anything on the north coast. Fig Tree Drive runs through here, giving you rainforest canopy on one side and ocean glimpses on the other.

Carlisle Bay hotel is at the top of our ratings list for a reason. It sits on a sheltered bay with water so calm it looks like a lake, a design sensibility that doesn't try too hard, and a beach that's genuinely uncrowded. Curtain Bluff nearby in Morris Bay is older-school in its feel. a legacy resort with clifftop drama and a serious wine list. Cocos Hotel in Valley Church rounds out the trio at a lower price point, with terraced hillside accommodation and Valley Church Beach a 3-minute walk below.

Getting around requires a car or taxi. The south coast has no meaningful bus service after about 4pm and taxi rides from Old Road to St. John's run about $35-45. Factor that into your budget. But honestly, once you're in this part of Antigua you won't want to leave.

Best areas Carlisle Bay, Morris Bay, Valley Church
Price range $110-1,200/night
Best for Luxury travelers, beach purists, couples, repeat visitors
Avoid Booking without a car plan. transport options are limited after dark
Best months January-April, November

St. John's and Runaway Bay 2 מלונות מאומתים

Budget-friendly and central. practical, not glamorous.

St. John's is Antigua's capital and cruise ship hub, which tells you everything you need to know about its vibe between November and April. Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay are the tourist-facing areas, packed with duty-free shops and lunch crowds when ships are docked. That said, the city has real life in it too. the Public Market on Market Street, St. John's Cathedral at Church Street, and a handful of solid local restaurants that don't charge tourist prices.

Spanish Main Hotel in the city centre and Antigua Village in Runaway Bay are our two picks here. Spanish Main is the more urban option, good for people using Antigua as a transit base or who want to explore the capital on foot. Antigua Village is technically outside the city in Runaway Bay, about 15 minutes from the centre, and sits right on the beach. which makes it our pick for budget travelers who still want sand.

One warning: avoid anything on or near the cruise ship pier on High Street for a peaceful morning. When a ship docks. and they dock most days from November through April. the area from Heritage Quay to Redcliffe Street is genuinely chaotic until mid-afternoon. Both our picks are far enough removed to avoid the worst of it.

Best areas Runaway Bay, Redcliffe Quay area
Price range $55-99/night
Best for Budget travelers, solo travelers, short stays, island explorers
Avoid Hotels near Heritage Quay cruise pier. chaos every morning from November-April
Best months May-November for quieter streets and better rates

Jolly Harbour and Turner's Beach 1 מלון מאומת

A private west-coast escape with one of Antigua's most romantic small resorts.

The Jolly Harbour area on Antigua's west coast is a mixed bag. The Jolly Harbour marina and residential complex itself is a large, slightly soulless gated community popular with long-term expats and yacht owners. But Turner's Beach, about 5 minutes north of the marina by car, is a different story entirely. Keyonna Beach Resort sits here with 25 rooms and a beach that's as good as anything on the island.

Keyonna operates on a couples-only policy, which immediately sorts out who this place is for. The rooms are in individual cottages set right on Turner's Beach, and the west-coast position means you get direct sunset views every evening over the Caribbean. At $200-249/night, it's the kind of place that justifies the price the moment you arrive.

For getting around, the nearest supermarket is in Jolly Harbour village about 10 minutes by car, and St. John's is around 20 minutes north along Valley Road. Taxis are readily available from the Jolly Harbour taxi stand. There's not much within walking distance, so don't book here expecting urban convenience.

Best areas Turner's Beach, Jolly Harbour Area
Price range $200-249/night
Best for Couples, honeymooners, beach romantics
Avoid Jolly Harbour marina complex hotels. large, impersonal, and overpriced for what you get

Romantic Escape

Turner's Beach at Keyonna is the pick. 25 rooms, couples only, direct sunset over the Caribbean. it's genuinely intimate in a way large resorts never are.

Culture and History

English Harbour is the only answer. Nelson's Dockyard at Freeman's Bay is a UNESCO site with real atmosphere, and Shirley Heights above the harbour is a 15-minute drive to one of the best views in the Eastern Caribbean.

Family Holiday

Dickenson Bay is the safest bet for families. The water is flat and safe for kids, Dickenson Bay Road has casual restaurants with no dress code, and Blue Waters Resort has proper family facilities without the chaos of an all-inclusive mega-resort.

Budget Travel

Runaway Bay gives you actual beach access at Antigua Village from $55/night, without the airport noise of some cheaper alternatives. Spanish Main in St. John's starts at $70/night if you'd rather walk to the city market.

Beach Obsessive

Carlisle Bay on the south coast is the one. The bay is sheltered, the sand is fine and pale, and on most mornings you'll share it with almost nobody. It's a 45-minute drive from St. John's and worth every minute.

Food and Drink

Stay in English Harbour and eat your way around Dockyard Drive and Falmouth Harbour Road. Catherines Café, the Admiral's Inn, and the restaurants at Falmouth Harbour Marina are all within a 10-minute walk of each other.

איך בדקנו את המלונות האלה

כל מלון ברשימה זו עבר את אותה הערכה. הנה בדיוק איך אנחנו מדרגים אותם.

We reviewed 8,000+ options across the main regions of Antigua and Barbuda. Most got cut fast. Misleading beachfront photos are a serious problem here. half the resorts claiming 'beachfront' require a golf cart or a 10-minute walk to reach the water. We also cut anything with chronic noise complaints from the All Saints Road nightlife corridor, resorts that price gouge during Sailing Week without delivering value, and budget spots in St. John's city centre where 'sea view' means a sliver of harbour between two buildings. What's left is genuinely worth your money.

Peak

Peak Season (Dec-Apr)

Avg hotel: $150-245/nightCrowds: HighTemp: 24-27°C

This is when Antigua is at its best weather-wise and most crowded. Trade winds keep temperatures at 24-27°C, rain is rare, and the cruise ship schedule means St. John's is heaving most mornings. Antigua Sailing Week in late April is the single busiest week of the year. hotels near English Harbour charge $300-500/night or more during race days. Book at least 8 weeks out for anything decent in December, and 3-4 months out for Sailing Week.

Budget Friendly

Low Season (Jun-Aug)

Avg hotel: $80-130/nightCrowds: LowTemp: 27-31°C

June through August is hot at 27-31°C and intermittently rainy, but the island is genuinely quiet. Budget hotels in Runaway Bay drop to $55-70/night and even mid-range properties at Dickenson Bay can be found at $100-120/night. Caribbean Summer Carnival in St. John's happens in late July. loud, colorful, and a solid reason to visit if you want something beyond beach time. Keep an eye on the hurricane tracker from mid-August.

Warming Up

Hurricane Season (Sep-Oct)

Avg hotel: $70-120/nightCrowds: LowTemp: 27-30°C

September and October carry real hurricane risk and some smaller hotels close entirely for the season. Antigua sits in the hurricane belt and has taken direct hits before, most recently from Hurricane Irma in 2017. If you travel in this window, check hotel cancellation policies carefully and take out travel insurance that covers weather events. Prices bottom out at $70-120/night, but the savings aren't worth the gamble unless you're flexible on dates.

איך להזמין מלונות ב Antigua and Barbuda

אסטרטגיות הזמנה חכמות לAntigua and Barbuda.

Book English Harbour 3-4 months out for Sailing Week

Antigua Sailing Week runs in late April every year and it completely transforms the south side of the island. Hotels within 10 miles of Falmouth Harbour triple in price and the better ones sell out by January. If you want to watch the races without paying $400+/night, base yourself in Dickenson Bay and taxi down. it's a 30-35 minute drive and taxis from the north coast run about $40 one way.

Drive on the left. and expect speed bumps everywhere

Antigua drives on the left, British-style. Rental cars start at around $50-60/day from agencies at V.C. Bird International Airport. The road surfaces vary wildly and speed bumps appear without warning, especially through village centres like Liberta and All Saints on the road south. A compact car is fine. you don't need a 4x4 for anything on our list of vetted hotels.

The 'beachfront' label is aggressively abused here

Antigua has more hotels claiming 'beachfront' access than beaches that actually justify it. Before you book, ask specifically whether the beach is directly in front of the property or if you need to walk, take a shuttle, or cross a road to reach it. Every hotel on our vetted list has honest beach access described. don't extend that trust to properties we haven't reviewed.

Use EC dollars for anything outside the tourist zones

Eastern Caribbean dollars (EC$) are the local currency and USD is accepted almost everywhere tourists go. But you'll pay better prices in EC$ at the Public Market in St. John's, at local rum shops, and at roadside food stalls on Fig Tree Drive. The exchange rate is fixed at $1 USD to $2.70 EC, so the math is easy. Withdraw EC$ from ATMs in St. John's near the CIBC bank on High Street rather than paying airport exchange rates.

Don't rely on the bus after 6pm

Antigua's bus service from West Bus Station on Valley Road runs frequently during the day and is genuinely useful for getting between St. John's and Dickenson Bay or All Saints for under $1.50 EC per trip. But service drops off sharply after 6pm and some routes stop entirely. If you're staying in the south. Carlisle Bay, Morris Bay, English Harbour. budget $35-45 per taxi ride to St. John's and plan accordingly.

November 1st is a public holiday. plan around it

Antigua and Barbuda Independence Day falls on November 1st every year. It's a genuine national celebration with events in St. John's around Independence Drive and Vivian Richards Street, but it also means some restaurants and shops close for the day. If you're arriving around that date, confirm your hotel restaurant hours in advance and stock up on supplies the day before if you're in a self-catering setup.

שאלות נפוצות על מלונות ב Antigua and Barbuda

תשובות ישירות מהצוות שלנו.

What's the best area to stay in Antigua?

English Harbour is our top pick. You're within 5 minutes walk of Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights is a 15-minute drive, and the restaurants around Falmouth Harbour Road are genuinely excellent. Dickenson Bay works well if you want calm water and a proper beach strip without renting a car every day.

When is the best time to visit Antigua?

January through April is the sweet spot. Temperatures sit around 24-27°C, rain is rare, and the trade winds keep things comfortable. Hotels run $130-245/night in this window, so book at least 8-10 weeks out. Sailing Week in late April pushes prices and crowds to their annual peak around English Harbour and Falmouth.

How much does a good hotel in Antigua cost?

You can find solid rooms from $55-85/night at places like Antigua Village in Runaway Bay. Mid-range comfort around Dickenson Bay or Valley Church runs $110-190/night. The luxury tier at Carlisle Bay or Curtain Bluff starts at $175 and goes well past $1,000/night at Jumby Bay Island.

Is Antigua good for honeymooners?

Yes, and it's genuinely one of the Caribbean's best honeymoon destinations. Keyonna Beach Resort on Turner's Beach and Siboney Beach Club at Dickenson Bay both deliver real privacy without the factory-resort feel. Rooms run $130-249/night at those two, which is reasonable given what you get. Book a suite with a private plunge pool at Keyonna if the budget allows.

Do I need a rental car in Antigua?

It depends entirely on where you stay. English Harbour and Dickenson Bay have enough restaurants, bars, and beach within walking distance that you can survive a week without a car. Stay anywhere in the Old Road or Morris Bay area and a rental is basically essential. Taxis from St. John's to English Harbour run about $30-40 per trip.

What areas should I avoid when booking a hotel in Antigua?

Avoid hotels on the fringes of St. John's city centre along Market Street and the lower Heritage Quay area. they're noisy, the 'sea views' are overstated, and you're paying for location convenience that doesn't really exist. Hotels near the cruise ship pier on High Street get overwhelmed every time a ship docks, which is most days between November and April.

Is Antigua safe for tourists?

Generally yes. The main tourist areas. Dickenson Bay, English Harbour, Falmouth, and Jolly Harbour. are low-risk and well-patrolled. Use common sense around St. John's at night, particularly on streets away from the Heritage Quay tourist zone. The US State Department rates Antigua at Level 1, which is their lowest-risk category.

What's the cheapest decent hotel in Antigua?

Antigua Village Beach Resort in Runaway Bay starts at $55/night and it's genuinely on the beach, not a 10-minute shuttle ride from it. Spanish Main Hotel in St. John's city centre starts at $70/night and works well if you want to explore the capital on foot. Both have legitimate ratings above 7.0, which clears our minimum bar.

How do I get around Antigua without a taxi?

Antigua's bus network runs from the West Bus Station on Valley Road in St. John's and covers most of the island for under $1.50 EC per ride. Routes run to Dickenson Bay, All Saints, Liberta, and as far as English Harbour, though frequency drops sharply after 6pm. For anything after dark or outside the main corridors, taxis are the practical answer.

Which Antigua hotel has the best beach?

Carlisle Bay sits on one of the island's best stretches of sand, a calm south-coast bay that sees almost no wave action and gets fewer crowds than the north. Keyonna Beach Resort on Turner's Beach is a close second, with powder-white sand and just 25 rooms keeping it uncrowded. Both are in the $175-249/night range.

Are there any good budget hotels in Antigua?

Two make our list. Antigua Village Beach Resort in Runaway Bay ($55-85/night) is the better of the two for beach access. Spanish Main Hotel in St. John's ($70-99/night) is smarter if you're using the island as a base and care more about central location than sand. Don't expect luxury at either, but both deliver clean rooms and honest value.

What's the most luxurious hotel in Antigua?

Jumby Bay Island on Long Island is in a category of its own at $1,500-2,500/night. It's a private island a 7-minute boat ride from the main Antigua coast, with no day-trippers, no cars, and no pretending it's anything other than one of the Caribbean's finest resorts. Curtain Bluff in Morris Bay ($650-1,200/night) is the next tier down and arguably more characterful.
