How to get around Sal without getting ripped off
Alugers are shared minibuses running fixed routes between Santa Maria and Espargos for around 100-150 CVE (under $1.50). They leave from the main square near Rua 1 de Junho when full, not on a schedule. For Pedra de Lume, Murdeira, or the north coast, you're negotiating a private taxi. agree on the price before you get in, expect $15-25 one way.
