Elmina's center is walkable. From Coconut Grove Bridge House on Castle Road to the entrance of St. George's Castle takes under 5 minutes. The beachfront strip to the castle is about 15 minutes on foot. Taxis between any two points in the town center cost GHS 15-25 and are easy to flag near the market on Commercial Street.
For day trips to Kakum National Park, shared tro-tros from Elmina's main junction to Cape Coast's Jackson Street station take 20-30 minutes for around GHS 5. Onward transport from Cape Coast to the Kakum park entrance costs GHS 10-15 in a shared vehicle.
