Parikia: where to stay and what to skip
The Old Town lanes behind the Frankish kastro and around Ekatontapiliani are the best part of Parikia. You're 5 minutes from the ferry dock, the marble-paved alleys are genuinely beautiful, and prices stay reasonable. The Livadia beach strip to the south is convenient but noisy and lacks character. we'd skip it.
Pension Sofia sits in those Old Town lanes and costs $55-85/night. Hotel Argonauta on the seafront is a step up at $75-110/night and gets you the water views without the full resort markup. Either one puts you 10 minutes walk from the Ekatontapiliani, the most impressive Byzantine church in the Cyclades.
Naoussa: the island's best neighbourhood for eating and drinking
Naoussa port is small, photogenic, and packed with good restaurants. The waterfront around Plateia Mavrogeni has everything from grilled octopus tavernas to proper cocktail bars. In August it's heaving. book early or arrive with low expectations for quiet nights.
Kanale's Rooms and Suites sits right in the port area and costs $170-260/night. For the location, that's fair value. Naousa Bay Hotel out at Lageri Beach is better for families wanting calmer water and more space, at $210-310/night. Parilio up at Kolympithres is the splurge option at $320-620/night. and it earns every euro.
The luxury end: what you actually get
Parilio Hotel at Kolympithres runs $320-620/night and has our highest rating at 9.4. It's minimalist Cycladic architecture done at a level that justifies the number. private pool suites, 5 minutes from Kolymbithres beach, and staff that actually anticipate things. Archipelagos Resort near Agios Georgios is close behind at $290-530/night with a more secluded vibe.
Yria Island Boutique Hotel at Parasporos beach on the southwest coast is $190-380/night and our Top Rated pick overall. The spa is genuinely world-class and the private beach setup is hard to beat. Don't apologise for spending here. these places deliver.
South coast and the quiet side of Paros
Most visitors never make it past Naoussa and Parikia. That's fine. it means Alyki and the southwest coast around Parasporos stay calm. Alyki village is a 20-minute drive from Parikia and feels like a different island: fishing boats, one main taverna, almost no tour groups.
Minois Village Hotel near Alyki is the pick for couples who want genuine peace at $150-320/night. Yria Island at Parasporos is 10 minutes further south and more polished, but Minois has a warmer, more personal feel. If you're honeymooning or celebrating something, either of these over anything in Parikia.
Getting the best price on Paros hotels
August is expensive, full stop. Naoussa hotels run $200-600/night in peak weeks and book out months ahead. The Paros Panegyri festival in mid-August and the Assumption of Mary on August 15th (a massive Greek national holiday) push everything to maximum. avoid those dates unless you book 4-5 months out.
Late May and September are the practical answer. You'll pay 30-45% less than August rates with weather still reliably good at 24-27°C. For budget travelers, Pension Sofia in Parikia Old Town at $55-85/night is solid year-round. small but clean, and the location near Ekatontapiliani is excellent for the price.
The east coast: Marpissa and Piso Livadi area
The east coast around Marpissa and Piso Livadi gets overlooked, which is exactly what makes it worth considering. Marpissa is one of the best-preserved traditional villages on the island. whitewashed lanes, no souvenir shops, views across to Naxos. Paros Agnanti Hotel sits here at $160-230/night.
It's 25 minutes drive from Parikia and 30 minutes from Naoussa, so you do need wheels. But Golden Beach at Chryssi Akti is 10 minutes south and is the best windsurfing beach in the Aegean. If being central matters more than character, look elsewhere. if you want real village Paros, this is it.

Parikia is where almost everyone arrives, and the first impression from the port isn't always flattering. Push past the waterfront tourist shops and walk 5 minutes into the Old Town lanes near the Frankish kastro and Ekatontapiliani church. that's the Parikia worth staying in.
Two of our picks are here. Pension Sofia in the Old Town lanes is the budget champion at $55-85/night, 8 minutes walk from the ferry dock. Hotel Argonauta on the seafront steps it up to $75-110/night with proper sea views and a better breakfast setup.
The Livadia beach strip south of the port looks appealing on maps but is mostly noisy, overpriced, and catering to package tour turnover. Stick to the Old Town or the seafront promenade near the windmill, and you'll be glad you stayed in Parikia rather than paying more elsewhere.

Naoussa is what most people picture when they imagine Paros. The port is genuinely picturesque, the restaurant scene around Plateia Mavrogeni is the best on the island, and Kolymbithres beach is a 10-minute water taxi ride across the bay. It's busier than the south coast but the energy is earned.

August in Naoussa is genuinely loud. The port bars run past 2am, the narrow streets fill with people every evening, and parking near the village is a nightmare. If you want the restaurants and the beaches but need actual sleep, book Naousa Bay Hotel at Lageri rather than staying right in the port.

The south coast is a different island from the Naoussa buzz. Alyki village is 20 minutes from Parikia and feels properly local. a small harbor, working fishing boats, and a handful of tavernas that haven't redesigned their menus for Instagram. Parasporos just up the southwest coast is even more secluded.

You need a car or scooter to base yourself here comfortably. The KTEL bus runs to Alyki in summer but the schedule is unreliable after 7pm. That trade-off is completely worth it if your priority is space, peace, and quality over location convenience.

The area around Agios Georgios and Kolympithres sits just north of Naoussa. close enough to walk into the port for dinner (15 minutes), far enough to escape the noise. July and August are relentless on Paros. Ferries from Piraeus are packed, Naoussa port is standing-room-only by 9pm, and hotel prices jump 50-80% over shoulder season. The seafront in Parikia looks nice but the Old Town is better value
