West End Village is the social hub. Main Street has local dive shops, cheaper restaurants, and a genuine neighborhood feel around Half Moon Bay that West Bay simply doesn't have. How to base yourself for diving in Roatan
If diving is the main event, you want to stay where your dive operation is. CoCo View Resort in Brick Bay has its own house reef. you walk off the dock and you're in open water. Turquoise Bay Resort at Camp Bay on the East End sits above a reef that sees a fraction of the traffic the West End sites get. Both are worth the extra transfer time from the airport.

The collectivo system on CA-38 is your best friend. These shared taxis run constantly between Coxen Hole and West End for $2-3 per person and stop anywhere along the main road.
