Book in Saraya. It's the most central part of Jounieh, walking distance to the Téléférique lower station on Rue Maamari, the bay promenade, and a stack of restaurants. You'll spend zero time in taxis.
On your first day, walk the Jounieh Bay corniche from Saraya toward the Casino du Liban District north. it takes about 25 minutes and gives you the full coastal picture. From there, decide if you want to go up to Harissa by cable car or head 18 km north to Byblos. You can do both in a day if you start before 10am.
How to choose between Jounieh, Byblos, and Broumana
These three destinations each hit differently. Jounieh is coastal, buzzy, and casino-facing. Byblos. specifically the Old Port quarter. is ancient, romantic, and about a 25-minute drive north on the coastal highway. Broumana is a mountain village at roughly 800 meters elevation, 15 km east of Jounieh via the Dbayeh interchange.
Split your stay if you can. Two nights in Saraya (Jounieh), one night at Hotel Byblos Sur Mer on the Old Port, and one night at Printania in Broumana gives you sea, history, and mountain air without renting a car for more than a day.
The honest guide to Jounieh's nightlife and where to sleep nearby
Maameltein is the nightlife strip. The clubs on Rue Maameltein. places like Basement, Déjà Vu, and Crystal. run until 4am and later in summer. If you want to be in the middle of it, great. But don't book a hotel there expecting quiet mornings.
The smarter move: stay in Saraya or Haret Sakher, which are 10-15 minutes from Maameltein by taxi ($5-8). You get the nightlife without sleeping above it. Lancaster Eden Bay in Haret Sakher is particularly good for this: far enough north to stay calm, close enough to cab in.
Jounieh on a budget: what $55-110/night actually gets you
Two hotels on our list hit this bracket. Jounieh Hotel in Old Jounieh comes in at $55-85/night and is fine for a base if you're out all day and just need a clean room. Residences du Lac in Saraya stretches to $75-110/night and gives you a better location and more space. it's the better spend.
Skip eating at the hotel in either case. Walk five minutes from Residences du Lac toward the waterfront and you'll find local places on Rue Maamari doing fresh mezze for $8-12 a head. Budget travelers often overpay for hotel breakfasts here when the local bakeries on the back streets of Old Jounieh charge $2-3 for a full manoushe spread.
Luxury in Jounieh: when it's worth spending $260-420/night
Oceana Beach Club and Resort in the Casino du Liban District is the peak Jounieh luxury experience. The private beach, the pool setup, and the proximity to the Casino make it worth the $260-380/night if that's the trip you're building. Don't come here expecting a cultural immersion: it's a full resort bubble, and that's the point.
Le Royal in Dbayeh, technically Beirut's northern edge, operates at $290-420/night and is the most polished hotel on this list. It's 10 km south of Jounieh center but feels closer to an international business hotel than a coastal retreat. Best for people who want five-star consistency and don't mind driving 20 minutes to the bay.
Day trips from Jounieh you can do without a tour group
Jeita Grotto is 12 km east of Jounieh via Nahr al-Kalb valley. Rent a car or book a driver for around $40-50 for the half-day. Combined with the Harissa cable car (cable car station is right in Saraya, $10 return), you've got a full day of the two most iconic sights near Jounieh. Do Jeita first. it's cooler underground.
Byblos Old Port is 18 km north and takes 20-30 minutes on the coastal highway when it's not summer afternoon traffic. The Crusader castle, Phoenician ruins, and the port-side restaurants make it a proper half-day. Taxi there for $15-20, have lunch at one of the fish restaurants on the port, and cab back. Simple.

Saraya is where most visitors want to be. The Téléférique lower station is on Rue Maamari, the promenade runs along the full arc of Jounieh Bay, and you're 15 minutes walk from the Casino du Liban district. Golden Tulip Serenada and Residences du Lac both sit here.
The area is busy in summer, particularly July and August when Lebanese families from Beirut fill every restaurant on the corniche. But it's the right kind of busy. walkable, safe, with options at every price point from local snack shops to rooftop bars.
Old Jounieh, just south of Saraya, is the budget zone. The Jounieh Hotel is there. It's louder and less polished, but honest value if your priority is saving money and you're spending your days out on the bay or up in Harissa.

Haret Sakher sits north of central Jounieh, where the bay curves toward Maameltein. Lancaster Eden Bay is here, and it's the strongest all-around hotel on this list. proper beach access, full pool facilities, and genuine sea views. It's about 2 km from the Téléférique but a $5 taxi sorts that.
Maameltein is the nightlife strip and it's genuinely fun if you're in that mode. Clubs like Crystal and Déjà Vu on Rue Maameltein pull crowds until sunrise in summer. If you're not in that mode, don't stay in Maameltein itself.
The Oceana Beach Club is further north in the Casino du Liban District, essentially its own universe at $260-380/night. It's 5 minutes drive from Maameltein but feels completely separate. Best for people who want luxury without the nightclub energy.

Broumana is not Jounieh. It's 15 km east, up a switchback mountain road via the Dbayeh interchange, sitting at around 800 meters elevation. But it's close enough (30-40 minutes by car) that including it in this guide makes sense for travelers doing a coast-and-mountain combo.
Hotel Printania and Hotel Alexandre are both in or near the village center of Broumana. Printania is on the main road in Central Broumana with unobstructed views down to the coast. Alexandre is quieter, slightly outside the village, and feels more private. Rates for both land in the $150-250/night range.
