Pigeon Point is the postcard shot, but you pay an entrance fee to get in ($6 USD for non-residents) and the beach facilities are more manicured. Sandy Point Beach Club sits right between the two zones, which is honestly the best of both. If you're undecided, book Sandy Point and walk to whichever vibe you need that day.
How to get around Crown Point without renting a car
Route taxis are your main tool. They run fixed routes along Claude Noel Highway and cost $1-3 USD per ride. Flag one down anywhere on the main road and tell the driver your stop. From Store Bay Local Road to Scarborough (the capital) takes about 40 minutes and costs under $4.
For beach hops, informal taxis and moto-taxis operate near the Pigeon Point junction and Store Bay car park. Agree on a price before you get in. Coco Reef to Grafton Beach runs about $12-15 USD by private taxi and saves you the hassle of timing route taxis in the midday heat.
Crown Point on a budget: how to keep it under $100/night
Two hotels in our vetted list come in under $100: Della Mira Guesthouse at $55-85/night on Store Bay, and Shepherd's Inn at $100-145/night in Canaan Village. Della Mira is the clear budget winner and its Store Bay location means you're not sacrificing convenience to save money.
Eat at the Store Bay food stalls instead of hotel restaurants. Plates of crab and dumplings or curried goat run $8-15 USD and beat most resort dining on taste and price. You can do a full day in Crown Point, with beach, food, and a cold drink, for under $30 USD outside your accommodation.
The luxury end: what $270-500/night actually gets you in Tobago
Magdalena Grand at Tobago Plantations Estate in Lowlands is the only hotel in our list with a golf course attached. The 18-hole course overlooks the Caribbean Sea, and the resort's rating of 9.0 reflects a level of consistency you don't always find at this price in the southern Caribbean. At $270-420/night, it's the most accessible luxury option.
Villas at Stonehaven Bay in Black Rock goes further. Rates run $310-500/night, and these are full villas with private pools overlooking Stonehaven Bay. The 9.2 rating is the highest in our entire Crown Point list. This is the one to book if the trip is a milestone, not just a holiday.
Carnival and high season: when to book (and when to bail)
Tobago's Carnival typically falls in February, mirroring Trinidad's. Crown Point fills up fast, prices jump 20-30%, and Store Bay Local Road gets properly busy. If you're coming for Carnival, book 3-4 months ahead, full stop. If you're not coming for Carnival, the two weeks either side are worth avoiding.
The real sweet spot is January or March through May. Dry weather, lower prices, and Coco Reef and Sandy Point Beach Club still have availability at their standard $105-210/night rates. June onwards brings the wet season, which isn't dramatic rain but afternoon showers are frequent. Hotels discount by 15-25% from June through October.
Which Crown Point neighborhood is right for your trip
Beach-first travellers should anchor in Store Bay or Coconut Bay. Couples after peace and privacy should look at Grafton Beach or Stonehaven Bay. Canaan Village is the one area that trips people up. It's only 3-4 km from Store Bay but feels disconnected without a car. Shepherd's Inn is fine, and $100-145/night is fair, but factor in taxi costs if you plan to be mobile. Otherwise, pay a little more and stay closer to the coast.

Rex Tobago at Milford Bay is the family play. The beach here is calm, the water is shallow in sections, and the resort layout works for parents who need to see kids from the pool bar. Rates run $140-200/night and it carries our Family Friendly badge for good reason.
