Entebbe International Airport sits about 4 km from Entebbe town centre, just off the Entebbe-Kampala Road. The arrivals hall is small and moves fast once immigration clears. Have your yellow fever certificate ready. they do check.

Splurge nights belong at the lake-facing terraces in Bugonga or near Kigungu Landing Site. Portions are generous, the tilapia is fresh, and a full meal with drinks rarely tops $25. That's genuinely good value for the setting.
The Entebbe Botanical Garden: more than just a walk
The Botanical Garden on Botanical Beach Road is free to enter and wildly underused by hotel guests. It's 5 minutes walk from The Boma Entebbe on Botanical Beach and about 12 minutes from the Lake Victoria Hotel on the Peninsula. Grey-cheeked mangabeys and various hornbills are regulars.
Film buffs will recognize it as a Tarzan filming location. Morning visits before 9 am are best. cooler, quieter, and the light through the fig trees is something else. Pack insect repellent. The garden backs right onto the lake shore, so the mosquitoes are real.
Choosing between budget and mid-range hotels in Entebbe
At $55-80/night, Boma Hotel Entebbe in the town centre does the job for transit stays. You're 8 minutes walk from the main market and close to shared taxi connections to Kampala. Don't expect lake views or a pool.
Step up to the $110-170/night range and the difference is real. Properties like Protea Hotel by Marriott on Kampala Road and Airport Guest House Entebbe deliver proper Wi-Fi, reliable air-con, and breakfast worth eating. For just $30-40 more per night, the quality jump is worth it for stays of two nights or more.
When to visit Entebbe: seasons that actually matter
Uganda's dry seasons run roughly June-August and December-February. Those are your clearest days for lake views and boat trips to Ngamba Island. The long rains (March-May) can make roads near Bugonga and Lunyo genuinely muddy, and some smaller guesthouses drop in standard when drainage fails.

Don't come here for atmosphere. Come here because you have an early morning taxi to catch or a meeting at the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices nearby. The lake is 15-20 minutes walk, which is farther than it sounds in the midday heat.
