We've seen this mistake hundreds of times: booking near the train station because it seems convenient. Vokzalna area hotels tend to be overpriced relative to quality, and you're still a metro ride from everything you came to see. Save yourself the headache.
The left bank is another trap. It photographs fine on booking sites but puts you on the wrong side of the Dnipro from Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Saint Sophia, Maidan, and Podil. Unless you're visiting someone in Darnytsia, just don't.
