Fig Tree Bay is central, walkable and buzzy. You're steps from the best beach, restaurants line Protaras Avenue, and everything from water sports to evening dining is within a 10-minute stroll. It's the right call for first-timers, families and anyone who wants convenience built in.
Cape Greco is the other end of the scale. It's quieter, more secluded, and the clifftop setting is genuinely spectacular. especially from the terrace at Grecian Park Hotel. The trade-off is you'll need a car or taxi for most errands. For couples or anyone who wants to escape the beach-strip energy, Cape Greco wins easily.
Protaras on a budget: where to stay and what to skip
Pernera is your base. It's about 15 minutes north of Fig Tree Bay on foot, the vibe is local and relaxed, and hotel prices here are genuinely $30-50/night cheaper than Fig Tree Bay equivalents. Sunrise Beach Hotel and Malama Beach Holiday Village both sit in Pernera, and neither will embarrass you.
Skip the cheap hotels clustered behind Protaras Centre on the inland side of Georgiou Seferi Street. You're paying for nothing. no beach access, no views, and bus connections are patchy. A few extra dollars in Pernera buys you a much better trip.

The beach at Kapparis is wide and much less crowded than anything further south. On a July morning when Fig Tree Bay is standing room only, Kapparis beaches have space. The trade-off is real though: without a car, dining and evening options are limited to what's walkable, which isn't much.
