Hôtel Fello
Labe is the main city in the Fouta Djallon region and Hotel Fello is the standout accommodation option in town. The property sits on a hill with views over the surrounding plateau landscape. Hôtel Badiar
Koundara is a remote town in Upper Guinea near the border with Senegal and Guinea-Bissau, and Hotel Badiar serves travelers in this area well. Named after the nearby Badiar National Park, it is a practical base for wildlife visits. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with mosquito nets provided. The owner is knowledgeable about the park and local wildlife. Few travelers make it out this far, which makes the experience feel genuinely off the beaten path.

Faranah sits in central Guinea near the source of the Niger River, and this hotel is the best option in town for business travelers and NGO workers passing through the region. The dining room serves both Guinean and continental dishes throughout the day. Location is central, close to the main administrative offices.

Hôtel Gbessia
Located near Conakry International Airport in the Gbessia district, this hotel is practical for early departures or late arrivals. The rooms are dated but spacious, and the beds are comfortable enough for a night or two. There is a small on-site restaurant serving Guinean and French dishes. The outdoor terrace is a pleasant spot in the evenings. Not a place to linger, but it does the job well.

Nên ở đâu tại Guinea
Khu vực bạn chọn quan trọng hơn bản thân khách sạn.
Conakry's neighborhoods: where to actually stay
Kaloum is Conakry's downtown peninsula and it's chaotic. Government buildings, the Grand Marché, and Rue du Commerce are all here. useful if you have business meetings, but exhausting if you don't. Flooding during rainy season (June-October) can make streets impassable for hours.
Camayenne is calmer, greener, and closer to the airport. The corniche stretch along Camayenne beach is where you'll find the Palm Camayenne Hotel and Hôtel Camayenne, both within a short walk of the ocean. Taxis to Kaloum cost roughly 50,000 GNF and take 20-35 minutes depending on traffic at the Autoroute roundabout.
Getting around Guinea without losing your mind
There's no metro or train network in Guinea. In Conakry, shared minibuses called 'gbaka' cover fixed routes for around 2,000-5,000 GNF per trip, but they're crowded and stop unpredictably. Motorcycle taxis ('motos') are faster for short hops. agree on a price before you get on, typically 10,000-20,000 GNF for trips under 5 km.
For inter-city travel, bush taxis (sept-places Peugeot 504s) depart from Gare Routière de Madina in Conakry. Kindia costs about 50,000 GNF, Labé runs 150,000-200,000 GNF. They leave when full, not on a schedule. Go early. departures dry up by early afternoon.
Rainy season vs. dry season: what it actually means for your trip
Guinea's rainy season runs roughly May-October, with peak intensity in July-August. Coastal Conakry gets around 4,300mm of rain annually. one of the highest totals in West Africa. Roads to Nzérékoré and Koundara can become genuinely impassable during heavy rains. Plan any inland trip for November-April.
Dry season (November-April) is when hotel prices climb, especially in December around Tabaski (Eid al-Adha) when domestic travel peaks. Book Conakry hotels at least 3 weeks ahead for December. Outside peak dates, prices drop 10-20% and the harmattan winds make the Fouta Djallon highlands around Labé feel almost cool.
What to eat near your hotel in Conakry
Skip the hotel restaurant if you're at a mid-range property. Walk to the maquis stalls along Boulevard Diallo Telli in Kaloum for grilled fish, foufou, and riz sauce arachide for under 30,000 GNF. Around Camayenne, the open-air restaurants near the corniche serve fresh barracuda that's genuinely excellent.
For something more structured, Le Damier restaurant near the Corniche de Camayenne does Lebanese and Guinean fusion. it's where expats go on Friday evenings. Expect to pay 80,000-150,000 GNF for a full meal with a drink. It's about a 10-minute walk from both Hôtel Camayenne and Palm Camayenne Hotel.
Budget travel in Guinea: how to stretch your money
Two hotels on our list come in under $100/night: Hôtel Mariador Palace in Kaloum ($55-85) and Hôtel Gbessia near the airport ($70-99). Mariador is the better value for location. you're 5 minutes walk from the Cathédrale Sainte-Marie and the port area. Gbessia is useful only if you have an early flight.
Street food keeps daily costs low. A full lunch at a local maquis near Madina costs 15,000-25,000 GNF. Shared gbaka minibuses cost under 5,000 GNF per ride. The big spend is usually taxis. negotiate before you get in and never pay more than 100,000 GNF for any trip within Conakry.
Luxury hotels in Guinea: is it worth paying more?
At $260-420/night, Noom Hotel Conakry is expensive by any regional measure. But it delivers things other hotels can't: consistent power, fast Wi-Fi, a rooftop pool with views over the Kaloum Peninsula, and the kind of security setup that lets you sleep without worry. If you're on a company card or staying fewer than 5 nights, it's worth it.
Palm Camayenne Hotel at $290-420/night is the better choice if you want Conakry's best setting. It sits right on the Camayenne coastline with direct beach access. rare in Guinea. The restaurant is one of the few in the country that reliably handles international dietary requirements. We'd pick it over Noom for leisure trips, and over every other option in Conakry for honeymoons.

Khu vực khách sạn tốt nhất của Guinea
Conakry is where most visitors start, and honestly, it's where the best hotel infrastructure is. But if you're heading inland to the Fouta Djallon highlands or south to the Forest Region, plan ahead: good options thin out fast.

The capital does most of the heavy lifting. 5 vetted hotels, all the infrastructure, and the country's only real luxury options.
Conakry sits on the Kaloum Peninsula, a narrow finger of land jutting into the Atlantic. Traffic is legendary. The main artery, Autoroute Le Prince, locks up during morning and evening rush. plan any cross-city move before 7am or after 8pm.
Kaloum is the business and government core. Camayenne, 15 kilometers northeast along the N1, is calmer and has better hotel options overall. Most expats and longer-stay visitors end up in Camayenne for a reason. It's also where the best restaurants and the corniche walk are.
Five of our 10 vetted Guinea hotels are in Conakry. Prices range from $55/night at Hôtel Mariador Palace in Kaloum to $420/night at Palm Camayenne Hotel on the waterfront. There's something for every budget here, and nowhere else in Guinea comes close to this spread.

Labé is the main hub of the Fouta Djallon, sitting at around 1,100 meters elevation. Temperatures here run 18-25°C even in the hottest months. a genuine relief after Conakry's humidity. The town center near the Grande Mosquée de Labé is walkable, and Hôtel Fello is close enough to explore on foot.
Kindia, about 130 kilometers from Conakry on the N1, is the gateway to the highlands. Hôtel Koba is the best option here and sits within 20 minutes of the Chutes de la Soumba waterfall. one of Guinea's most accessible natural landmarks. It's a good one-night stopover if you're driving to Labé.
Roads in this region are paved but rough in parts. Allow extra travel time, especially after rain. Both hotels here have generators and are accustomed to guests arriving late due to road delays.

Nzérékoré is the capital of the Forest Region and the base for exploring Mont Nimba, a UNESCO biosphere reserve that straddles the Guinea-Côte d'Ivoire-Liberia border. The town itself is small and low-key. the main market near the central roundabout is worth a morning wander.
Hôtel Nimba is the only vetted option here, and it serves its purpose well. At $130-180/night, it's priced above what the town's facilities might suggest, but you're paying for reliability in a place where reliability is rare. The hotel is 15 minutes from the base of the Mont Nimba access trails by taxi.
Getting to Nzérékoré from Conakry takes 12-16 hours by road, or you can fly via Air Guinée Express when flights operate. check schedules close to your travel date. The Forest Region has a distinct ethnic and cultural character, with Kpelle and Loma communities you won't encounter in the north.

Faranah sits on the upper Niger River and it's where you go if the river itself is the point. Hôtel Tinkisso is the local standard for business travelers and NGO workers in the region. its rating reflects that it's consistent rather than exciting. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Niger riverbank, where small pirogues take you across to the opposite shore for a few thousand francs.
Koundara, up near the Senegalese and Guinean-Bissau borders, is a frontier town. Hôtel Badiar is named after Badiar National Park, which starts about 20 kilometers northeast of town. It's basic by international standards but solid for what the region offers. At $155-200/night you're paying for the privilege of having a reliable room near one of West Africa's more remote park ecosystems.
Both towns are long drives from Conakry. Faranah is about 400 kilometers via the N2. roughly 6-8 hours. Koundara is even further north, close to 600 kilometers. Domestic flights help, but they're unreliable. Build extra days into any itinerary here.

Romantic Getaway
Palm Camayenne Hotel on the Camayenne coastline is the pick. direct beach access, Atlantic sunsets, and a restaurant that actually handles a proper dinner. It's the only hotel in Guinea where romance feels designed in rather than accidental.
Culture & History
Stay in Kaloum and walk to the Musée National de Guinée on Avenue de la République. it holds one of West Africa's better collections of masks and instruments, and it's 5 minutes from Hôtel Mariador Palace. The surrounding streets tell the story of post-independence Conakry better than any guidebook.
Family Travel
Camayenne is the right base for families. calmer streets, beach access along the corniche, and hotels with actual space. Hôtel Camayenne has the most family-friendly setup of our picks, with a pool and enough room to breathe after a full day.
Budget Travel
Kaloum gives you the cheapest vetted beds in Guinea, starting at $55/night at Hôtel Mariador Palace. Add maquis street food on Boulevard Diallo Telli for under 25,000 GNF per meal and you're traveling Guinea on a genuinely tight budget.
Beach & Nature
Camayenne's corniche is Conakry's best waterfront stretch, and Palm Camayenne Hotel sits right on it. Beyond the city, the Chutes de la Soumba near Kindia and the forests around Nzérékoré deliver serious nature without much tourist infrastructure around them. which is either the appeal or the problem, depending on who you are.
Foodie Travel
Conakry's best food scene is concentrated around Camayenne and Kaloum's commercial streets. Grilled barracuda on the corniche near Camayenne beach, Lebanese mezze at Le Damier, and riz sauce arachide from Madina market stalls. Guinea's food is underrated and almost entirely unwritten about in English.
Cách chúng tôi đánh giá những khách sạn này
Mỗi khách sạn trong danh sách này đều trải qua cùng một quy trình đánh giá. Đây là cách chúng tôi chấm điểm.
We reviewed 8,000+ options across the main regions of Guinea. A lot got cut fast. We dropped anything with misleading photos. the 'sea view' rooms in Kaloum that actually face a car park, the 'luxury' guesthouses in Nzérékoré with no running water after 9pm. We also cut hotels that looked fine on paper but had chronic power and Wi-Fi failures. Guinea's grid is unreliable, so backup generators aren't optional. If a hotel couldn't prove consistent generator coverage, it didn't make our list.
Dry Season (Nov-Feb)
This is when Guinea is at its most accessible. Roads are passable, skies are clear, and the Fouta Djallon highlands drop to a very pleasant 18-22°C at night. December is the most expensive month. hotels in Conakry fill up around Tabaski and Christmas, with Noom Hotel rates pushing $380/night. Book at least 3 weeks ahead for December travel.
Late Dry / Hot Season (Mar-Apr)
It's hot, especially in Upper Guinea and the coast around Conakry. But crowds are thinner and prices drop noticeably. Hôtel Camayenne drops toward $110/night and even Palm Camayenne Hotel eases back from peak rates. If you're going to Labé or the highlands, March-April is still very good: elevation keeps temperatures manageable and the landscape stays green longer than you'd expect.
Early Rains (May-Jun)
Rains start in May, mostly as afternoon downpours that clear by evening in Conakry. Roads inland start getting slippery by June, so this is still viable for Conakry-based trips but risky for Koundara or the Forest Region. Hotel prices are at their lowest. $55/night at Mariador Palace, and even mid-range options drop 15-20% off peak. Bring waterproofs.
Rainy Season (Jul-Oct)
July and August are brutal in Conakry. 400-600mm of rain per month, street flooding in Kaloum and Ratoma, and roads to Nzérékoré and Koundara that range from difficult to impassable. Humidity sits at 85-95%. Budget hotels in Conakry drop to $55-70/night and there are real deals to be had at mid-range properties. But you'll earn every dollar saved.
Cách đặt khách sạn tại Guinea
Chiến lược đặt phòng thông minh cho Guinea.
Confirm generator coverage before you book
Guinea's national electricity grid fails daily in most areas. outages of 6-10 hours are normal even in Conakry's Kaloum and Camayenne districts. Every hotel on our list has backup power, but 'generator' can mean anything from full-property coverage to a single unit for the lobby. Ask specifically: does the generator cover room AC, Wi-Fi, and hot water? Get it in writing if you can.
Book December hotels at least 3 weeks ahead
Tabaski (Eid al-Adha) and the Christmas-New Year period fill Conakry's better hotels fast. Noom Hotel Conakry and Palm Camayenne Hotel both hit capacity weeks in advance in December. If you're traveling then, book as soon as you have your visa confirmed. The Camayenne and Kaloum properties we recommend go from $110-260/night to fully booked overnight during peak weeks.
Negotiate taxi fares before you get in
Conakry taxis don't use meters. A fair rate from Camayenne to Kaloum is 50,000-80,000 GNF depending on traffic and time of day. Airport to Kaloum should be 100,000-150,000 GNF. Drivers will quote higher to new arrivals. that's just how it works. Agree the price firmly before the door closes. Having small francs helps because 'no change' is a common gambit.
Don't assume USD is universally accepted outside Conakry
In Conakry, many mid-range and luxury hotels price and accept USD directly. Outside the capital, in towns like Faranah, Kindia, and Koundara, you'll need Guinean francs for almost everything. ATMs are scarce outside Conakry. the last reliable ATMs heading toward Labé are in Mamou. Withdraw enough francs in Conakry before any inland trip.
Dress conservatively around mosques and markets
Guinea is predominantly Muslim. Around the Grande Mosquée de Conakry near Kaloum, Madina market, and in highland towns like Labé, covered shoulders and knees are the norm rather than the exception. This is especially relevant near prayer times on Fridays. Hotels in Conakry won't flag it, but once you're in local neighborhoods or traveling inland, respectful dress makes interactions smoother across the board.
Build a buffer day into any inland itinerary
Roads in Guinea are improving but still unpredictable. The N1 from Conakry to Labé (430 km) regularly takes 7-9 hours on a good day and longer after rain. Bus departures from Gare Routière de Madina are 'when full' not scheduled. that can mean a 2-hour wait at 6am. Every journey inland has a realistic chance of running 2-4 hours longer than planned. Budget one extra day per region change.
Câu hỏi thường gặp về khách sạn tại Guinea
Câu trả lời thẳng thắn từ đội ngũ của chúng tôi.
What's the best area to stay in Conakry?
Camayenne is your safest bet. It's quieter than the Kaloum Peninsula, the roads are better, and you're 10 minutes from the corniche along the Autoroute Le Prince. Hotels here run $110-290/night and you're close to the airport without being stuck in Kaloum's choking traffic.
Is Kaloum worth staying in?
Kaloum is Conakry's commercial core, which means noise, congestion, and flooding risk during rains. That said, it's where you'll find the cheapest vetted options. around $55-85/night at places like Hôtel Mariador Palace on Avenue de la République. If your meetings are downtown, it makes sense. Otherwise, stay in Camayenne and take a taxi in.
How much do hotels cost in Guinea on average?
Budget options in Conakry start around $55-70/night. Mid-range hotels across Kindia, Labé, and Faranah run $120-190/night. Luxury in Conakry at Noom Hotel or Palm Camayenne pushes $260-420/night. Prices outside the capital are sometimes higher than you'd expect because supply is genuinely limited.
Is it safe to travel to Guinea for tourists?
Conakry has areas you don't wander after dark, particularly around Madina market and parts of Ratoma at night. Stick to Camayenne and Kaloum's main avenues for evening walks. Outside the capital, towns like Kindia and Labé are generally relaxed. Check your government's travel advisory before you go. Guinea's political situation shifts.
Do Guinean hotels have reliable power and Wi-Fi?
Most don't rely on the national grid. Guinea's electricity supply fails daily in many neighborhoods, sometimes for 6-10 hours. Our vetted picks all have generator backup, but confirm this before booking. Noom Hotel Conakry in Kaloum is the most reliable for power and Wi-Fi. it's built to international standards.
