Accra Luxury Apartments at The Gardens
Accra Luxury Apartments at The Gardens sits in the Kpeshie neighborhood on Third Circular Road, carrying itself with the calm confidence of a place that knows what it's doing. It's a four-star property, and the guest satisfaction speaks for itself. The outdoor pool is a genuine draw, and you can easily squeeze in a swim before breakfast, which the property serves on-site. The restaurant means you're not scrambling for a meal after a long day of travel. In the room, you get air conditioning and a kitchen, which is a real bonus if you want to keep things flexible and self-sufficient. Wi-Fi and parking are well-regarded by guests, and the airport shuttle takes one big headache off the table. The fitness center rounds out a solid set of amenities. Our one honest caveat: with no detailed property descriptions to pull from, we'd recommend confirming room size and apartment layout directly before booking. But for a comfortable, well-equipped Accra base, this one earns its stars.

MACOBA LUXURY APARTMENTS
MACOBA LUXURY APARTMENTS sits in the Amakom area of Kumasi, offering a calm, self-contained base in one of Ghana's most energetic cities. The feel here is unhurried and residential rather than grand-hotel formal. You get the essentials done right: solid Wi-Fi, air conditioning, parking on-site, and an airport shuttle so arrivals and departures don't become a production. That combination of connectivity and convenience gives the place a no-nonsense appeal. Kumasi itself rewards walkability and curiosity, and having a reliable home base matters here. The air conditioning is worth calling out specifically. Ghana's heat is real, and knowing your room will be cool is not a small thing. Guests consistently rate the parking, Wi-Fi, and shuttle among the top reasons they'd return, which tells you something about the crowd this place attracts and how well it delivers on practical needs. Beyond that, the resort leans active: bicycle rental, horseback riding, watercraft rental, and golf are all on offer, which gives the place an energetic edge. The restaurant and bar handle dining on-site, and room service means you're not always tied to set hours. Practical details are covered too. Front desk, concierge, full-service laundry, housekeeping, and baggage storage are all available. The property accepts credit cards, debit cards, NFC payments, and cash, so payment is genuinely flexible. Families will find the kid-friendly setup and activities for children useful. Brenu Beach Lodge
Brenu Beach Lodge puts you right on the water in Elmina, and that location does most of the talking. The feel here is unhurried and unpretentious, the kind of place where the pace slows down without anyone having to tell you to relax. You get beachfront access, which means the ocean is genuinely part of your stay, not just a view from a distance. There's a restaurant and bar on site, so you're not scrambling for meals or evening drinks. Breakfast is available, which we always consider a good sign at a lodge like this. Wi-Fi and parking round things out practically. Elmina itself carries a lot of history and character, and this lodge gives you a calm base to explore from. The rating from a solid number of reviewers suggests real consistency, not just lucky nights. If direct beach access and a relaxed atmosphere matter to you, this one delivers. Just don't expect a flashy resort experience.

Laundry service is offered, which is genuinely useful on a longer trip. Parking is on the property, and an airport shuttle removes one travel headache before you've even checked in. Guests consistently flag parking, breakfast, and Wi-Fi as the standout positives. The hotel is also kid-friendly, so traveling with children isn't a problem. Our honest caveat: at two stars, expect functional comfort over luxury. If you need a reliable, well-regarded base in Tamale without fuss, this delivers.

The pool is a genuine draw, and guests consistently call it out as a highlight. You can cool off, then come back to a properly air-conditioned room. Wi-Fi holds up well by all accounts. Parking is on-site, and an airport shuttle takes the stress out of arrivals and departures. The four-star rating feels earned. There's a bar and restaurant on-site, plus room service if you'd rather stay put. Wi-Fi is reliable enough that you won't stress about staying connected. A business center and full-service laundry round things out for anyone here with more than leisure on their mind. The fitness center is a nice extra at this price tier. Beyond the room, there's massage, horseback riding, a gift shop, and laundry options. The resort is pet-friendly, accepting dogs and cats, which is rarer than you'd think. The smoke-free policy keeps things calm and clean. The honest caveat: air conditioning isn't guaranteed in every room, so if you're sensitive to heat, confirm that detail before booking.

Nên ở đâu tại Ghana
Khu vực bạn chọn quan trọng hơn bản thân khách sạn.
Accra neighbourhoods: where to actually stay
Osu is the obvious choice for first-timers. Oxford Street has the restaurants, the bars, and the convenience stores open past midnight, and you're 10 minutes from Labadi Beach by taxi. Budget travellers will find the most options here, ranging from $45 backpacker dorms to solid mid-range guesthouses around the $90-120 mark.
Cantonments is where Accra's expat crowd and senior business travellers tend to base themselves. It's quieter than Osu, roads are better maintained, and you're close to the Golf Club and the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College. Coconut Grove Regency Hotel here is a proper mid-range property with actual grounds, not just a converted house with pretensions.
Accra to Cape Coast: the coastal route worth knowing
The drive from Accra to Cape Coast along the N1 takes around 3 hours by private car. STC buses from Accra's Tudu Bus Station run the route daily for about GHS 45-60 and drop you at Cape Coast's main station, 15 minutes from the castle. Don't take the night bus. the road lighting between Winneba and Komenda is poor and the savings aren't worth it.
Elmina is just 12 minutes west of Cape Coast by shared taxi. Stay at Elmina Bay Resort for the beach access, then day-trip to Cape Coast Castle in the morning before the tour groups arrive. Getting there by 8am means you'll have the courtyard almost to yourself.
Getting to Mole National Park without losing your mind
Mole is 600km north of Accra and the road gets rough past Tamale. The most reliable route is flying Accra to Tamale on Africa World Airlines (roughly $80-120 one way), then hiring a vehicle in Tamale for the 3-hour drive to Mole via Damongo Road. Budget at least one full day for travel each way.
If you're staying at Zaina Lodge, they can arrange airport pickup from Tamale for around $120 per vehicle. It's worth it. A breakdown on the Mole road at dusk with a self-drive hire car is an experience nobody needs. Book the transfer when you book the room.
Kumasi: Ghana's second city, often overlooked
Most visitors treat Kumasi as a day trip from Accra. That's a mistake. Kejetia Market alone needs half a day, and the Manhyia Palace Museum. seat of the Ashanti Kingdom. is one of the most genuinely interesting cultural sites in West Africa. Give it two nights minimum.
Miklin Hotel sits in the Airport Residential area, 15 minutes from the city centre by taxi. The roads here are better than in central Kumasi, and the hotel's pool makes the humidity manageable. For food, skip the hotel restaurant one night and take a taxi to Adum. the waakye stalls near Harper Road open early and the portions are serious.
Shoulder season travel: the smart window nobody talks about
October and November hit a sweet spot in Ghana. The main rainy season is winding down, temperatures ease to around 26-29°C, and hotel rates in Accra drop 15-25% from the December peak. You'll see the landscape at its greenest, the waterfalls at Wli are still running strong, and you won't be competing with the Christmas diaspora crowd for rooms.
Book Zaina Lodge during this window for the best wildlife experience. Elephants concentrate around the Mole River waterhole between September and November when smaller water sources dry up. Rates here are $160-220/night, a better deal than the peak-season premium.
The Volta Region: Ghana's most underrated detour
Ho sits 2.5 hours east of Accra on a road that's genuinely good by Ghanaian standards. Alisa Hotel here is the best property in the Volta Region, and at $260-380/night it offers a level of finish you won't find anywhere else east of Accra. The hills around Ho are cooler than the coast, which matters more than you think after a week in 32°C heat.
From Ho, the Wli Waterfalls are 80km north near Hohoe. Ghana's highest waterfall and a 45-minute hike through forest to reach. It takes a full day return from Ho. The road via Golokwati is the better route. Leave by 7am and you'll beat the school groups.

Accra is big, loud, and traffic-heavy. but it's also where Ghana's best infrastructure is. Three of our vetted picks are here, spread across Osu, Cantonments, and Airport City. They cover completely different traveller needs.
Osu's Accra Backpackers Hostel on the fringe of Oxford Street is the best budget base in the city. It's walking distance from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and 20 minutes on foot from the National Theatre. You're also 10 minutes by taxi from Labadi Beach, which is where most backpackers end up on their first afternoon.
Kempinski Gold Coast City in Airport City is the other end of the scale. It's 5 minutes from Kotoka International Airport and the business district, with a pool deck that genuinely earns its keep in the Accra heat. For everything in between, Coconut Grove Regency in Cantonments at $110-160/night is the most consistent mid-range option in the city.

The stretch between Elmina and Cape Coast is 12km of the most historically significant coastline in West Africa. Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and you can walk between the two towns in a morning. Most visitors day-trip this from Accra and miss everything good.
Elmina Bay Resort faces the Atlantic directly, with the castle visible from its terrace. At $70-95/night, it's the best value in our entire Ghana selection. Book a sea-facing room and get up early. the fishing boats leave Elmina Harbour before 6am and the light is extraordinary.
Hans Cottage Botel on Pedu Road in Cape Coast is a completely different experience. The bungalows are built over a lagoon with live crocodiles below. sounds strange, works brilliantly. It's 12 minutes from Cape Coast Castle on foot and 30 minutes to the Kakum National Park canopy walkway by taxi.

Kumasi is 4 hours north of Accra on the N6 highway by bus, or 45 minutes by domestic flight. It's Ghana's second city and capital of the Ashanti Kingdom, home to Africa's largest open-air market at Kejetia. The city gets less foreign tourist traffic than Accra or Cape Coast, which is exactly why it's worth going.
Miklin Hotel is in Airport Residential, a quieter and better-maintained part of Kumasi about 15 minutes by taxi from the city centre. The hotel has consistent service scores, a pool, and proper air conditioning. non-negotiable in Kumasi's humidity. At $130-185/night, it's fairly priced for what you get.
From Kumasi, the Kente weaving village of Bonwire is 25 minutes east by tro-tro from the Kejetia bus terminal. The Lake Bosumtwi crater lake is 30 minutes south. Both are worth a half-day each. Don't try to cram both into one day.

Mole National Park in the Savannah Region is Ghana's largest wildlife reserve, covering 4,840 square kilometres. It's the only place in Ghana where you can walk with elephants. guided walks leave from Mole Motel and Zaina Lodge every morning at 7am. The park protects elephants, buffalo, kob, and over 300 bird species.
Zaina Lodge is the standout property in northern Ghana, and honestly one of the best lodge stays in West Africa at any price point. It sits on a ridge inside the park with views over the Mole River valley and elephant herds that drift through most mornings between October and March. At $160-220/night it's not cheap, but you're paying for access nothing else in Ghana can match.
Tamale is the nearest city with an airport, 3 hours south of Mole on a laterite road. Book your Zaina transfer in advance. The drive is beautiful but brutal on a hire car with no local knowledge.

The Volta Region is everything the coast isn't: green, hilly, noticeably cooler at around 22-28°C, and largely free of tourist crowds. Ho, the regional capital, sits 160km east of Accra on an excellent road and makes a logical stop between Accra and the border with Togo.
Alisa Hotel in Ho is the standout property here. It's centrally located near the Ho Teaching Hospital roundabout, with manicured grounds and a level of service that punches well above what you'd expect this far from Accra. At $260-380/night it's the upper end, and it earns it.
The Wli Waterfalls near Hohoe are 80km north of Ho. Ghana's highest at 80 metres. and the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary is a 90-minute drive on the Hohoe road. Both are proper half-day excursions. The Volta Region rewards travellers who slow down.

Since oil production ramped up offshore, the business hotel market here improved significantly. Frankie's Hotel in the Commercial District on Liberia Road is the city's most consistent option.
At $145-195/night, Frankie's sits squarely in the mid-to-upper range for Takoradi. It's 10 minutes on foot from Takoradi Market Circle and 20 minutes by taxi from Takoradi Port. The hotel's location in the Commercial District keeps you close to the city's main restaurants and bars without the noise of the harbour front.

Romantic
Cape Coast's Pedu Road is the right neighbourhood. Hans Cottage Botel with its lagoon bungalows and crocodile pond below is genuinely one of a kind, and Kakum National Park is 30 minutes away for a sunset walk.
Culture
Kumasi's Adum district is where Ashanti history lives. You're walking distance from Kejetia Market, Manhyia Palace, and the Kumasi Fort, and Miklin Hotel in Airport Residential keeps you 15 minutes from all of it.
Family
Accra's Cantonments neighbourhood has the infrastructure families need. wide roads, good supermarkets on the Cantonments Road, and Coconut Grove Regency with proper grounds for kids to move around in.
Budget
Osu in Accra is the budget capital of Ghana. Accra Backpackers Hostel on the Oxford Street fringe runs $45-75/night, and you're surrounded by street food, cheap tro-tros, and more bars per street than anywhere else in the city.
Beach
Elmina's beachfront is the best stretch of sand with a hotel worth staying in. Elmina Bay Resort at $70-95/night faces the Atlantic directly and has the castle as a backdrop. no tourist beach bars, just the real thing.
Foodie
Osu's Oxford Street and the streets branching off it are Ghana's best eating neighbourhood. You've got waakye stalls open from 6am, proper jollof rice joints, Lebanese restaurants, and rooftop bars all within a 10-minute walk.
Cách chúng tôi đánh giá những khách sạn này
Mỗi khách sạn trong danh sách này đều trải qua cùng một quy trình đánh giá. Đây là cách chúng tôi chấm điểm.
We reviewed 5,000+ options across the main regions of Ghana. We cut guesthouses that listed 'sea views' from rooms facing a car park on Accra's Labadi Road. We cut Kumasi hotels that photographed a lobby renovated in 2009 and haven't touched it since. We cut Cape Coast properties that charge beachfront rates for rooms a 20-minute tro-tro ride from the water. What survived: hotels with honest photos, consistent service scores, and real value at their price point.
Peak Season (Dec-Feb)
December brings a big wave of diaspora visitors, particularly in Accra's Cantonments and Osu neighbourhoods. Hotel rates across the board climb 30-45% above standard, and rooms at Kempinski Airport City sell out weeks in advance. Book by October for Christmas week if you want options at any price point.
Dry Season Sweet Spot (Nov & Mar)
November and March sit either side of the Christmas rush, with comfortable temperatures and lower rates. Zaina Lodge in Mole drops to its standard $160-220/night and wildlife activity is excellent as animals cluster around water sources. This is the window we'd pick for a first visit.
Rainy Season (Apr-Jun, Sep-Oct)
Ghana has two rainy seasons: the main one from April to June and a shorter one in September to October. Rates fall significantly. Elmina Bay Resort at $70-95/night is already great value, but you can often negotiate even lower for multi-night stays in the off-season. The roads to Mole and Volta Region get difficult, so build in flexibility.
Harmattan (Dec-Feb, North)
The Harmattan wind blows in from the Sahara between December and February, bringing dust haze and sharp temperature swings. cold mornings around 18°C in Tamale and hot afternoons hitting 36°C by midday. Visibility at Mole drops during peak Harmattan, which affects wildlife photography. But the elephant concentrations around the Mole River waterhole are at their best precisely because the bush has dried out.
Cách đặt khách sạn tại Ghana
Chiến lược đặt phòng thông minh cho Ghana.
Book Zaina Lodge 3+ months ahead
Zaina Lodge has a limited number of rooms and fills up fast for the October-February wildlife season. Rates run $160-220/night and there's no real alternative inside the park if you miss out. Three months in advance is the minimum for December travel. Six months isn't excessive.
Negotiate taxi fares before you get in
In Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, agree the price before you open the door. A ride from Osu to Kotoka International Airport should cost GHS 80-120 by Uber or GHS 100-150 by regular taxi. Drivers quoting GHS 250-300 to foreigners at the airport rank are a daily occurrence. Know the number going in.
Don't underestimate Accra traffic
Getting from Accra's Airport City to Osu can take 15 minutes or 75 minutes depending on the time of day. The Ring Road interchange and the Liberation Road junction near Danquah Circle are the worst bottlenecks. Book airport hotels if you have an early morning flight. the Kempinski at $280-450/night is the obvious choice, but there are smaller options in Airport City for $100-140.
Carry small-denomination cedis
Most street vendors, tro-tros, and local food stalls in Ghana don't handle card payments or large notes. Keep GHS 1, 2, 5, and 10 notes on you daily. ATMs in Accra (stanbicbank.com.gh has reliable machines on Independence Avenue) dispense large notes, so break them at a hotel front desk or supermarket on your first day.
The Brongafo Hotel in Sunyani is a real find
Sunyani is the capital of the Bono Region and 4 hours northwest of Accra. most travellers skip it entirely. Understand check-in norms at Ghanaian hotels
Standard check-in across Ghana is 2pm, but most hotels will hold luggage from morning arrivals at no charge. At busier properties in Accra and Cape Coast, early check-in before noon often requires paying for the previous night. This is particularly common at Hans Cottage Botel in Cape Coast during peak periods around December and Easter, when the hotel operates at close to 100% capacity.
Câu hỏi thường gặp về khách sạn tại Ghana
Câu trả lời thẳng thắn từ đội ngũ của chúng tôi.
What's the best area to stay in Accra?
Cantonments and Airport City are your two best bets. Cantonments puts you 10 minutes from Osu's Oxford Street restaurants and 15 minutes from the Accra Mall, without the noise of the Ring Road. Airport City makes sense if you're here on business, with the N1 highway keeping you 20 minutes from most corporate offices.
How much do hotels in Ghana cost per night?
Budget hostels in Osu run $45-75/night. Mid-range hotels in Kumasi or Takoradi sit around $130-195/night. Luxury options in Accra's Airport City or Ho's Volta Regional Capital push $260-450/night. There's not much in between the mid-range and luxury brackets, so set your expectations accordingly.
Is it safe to stay in central Accra?
Most of central Accra is fine during daylight. Osu and Cantonments are the safest and most foreigner-friendly neighborhoods, both with 24-hour security at most guesthouses. Avoid walking alone at night near Nkrumah Circle and Agbogbloshie. those areas have higher petty theft rates after dark.
What's the best time of year to visit Ghana?
November through March is the dry season, the most comfortable stretch for travel. Temperatures sit around 27-32°C and you won't get caught in an afternoon downpour on the road to Mole. Hotel prices peak over the Christmas and New Year period, when rooms in Accra's Airport City can jump 40% above the standard rate.
Do I need a visa to visit Ghana?
Most nationalities need a visa in advance. Ghana's e-visa portal (ghana.gov.gh) processes applications in 5-10 business days for around $50-150 depending on your passport. Citizens of ECOWAS countries are visa-free. Don't leave this to the last minute. processing delays around Ghanaian public holidays are common.
How do I get from Accra Airport to my hotel?
Kotoka International Airport sits in Airport City, 15 minutes from Cantonments and around 30 minutes from Osu on a good traffic day. Licensed airport taxis charge roughly GHS 80-150 for central Accra, depending on destination. Uber operates in Accra and is typically 20-30% cheaper than the airport taxi rank.
Which Ghanaian city has the best hotels outside Accra?
Kumasi is the strongest option, with Miklin Hotel in Airport Residential setting a genuinely high standard. Cape Coast comes in second. Hans Cottage Botel on Pedu Road is one of the most distinctive stays in the country, sitting literally over a crocodile pond. Both cities are within a 3-hour drive or bus ride from Accra via the N6 highway.
What's the best hotel in Ghana for wildlife?
Zaina Lodge inside Mole National Park is the clear answer. It's the only luxury lodge actually within the park boundary, which means elephants wander past the pool most mornings. The nearest alternative accommodation is in Damongo town, 18km away, and the quality drop-off is steep.
Are there good beach hotels near Accra?
Labadi Beach is 20 minutes east of central Accra via the Labadi road, but the beach hotels there are overpriced for what you get. Better value is heading 3 hours west to Elmina, where Elmina Bay Resort delivers beachfront access at $70-95/night without the inflated Accra premium. Kokrobite Beach, 40 minutes west of Accra on the Coast Road, also has a handful of decent guesthouses in the $50-80 range.
Is tipping expected at Ghanaian hotels?
Tipping isn't mandatory, but it's appreciated and makes a real difference to staff wages. A standard tip for porters is GHS 10-20. For housekeeping on a longer stay, GHS 20-50 at checkout is generous and well-received. At higher-end places like Kempinski in Airport City, service charges are already added to your bill.
Can I drink tap water in Ghanaian hotels?
Don't drink the tap water anywhere in Ghana, including at higher-end hotels. Stick to sealed sachets (called 'pure water', available everywhere for GHS 0.50 each) or bottled water. Good hotels in Accra and Kumasi stock bottled water in rooms, but it's worth buying a larger 1.5L bottle from a shop on Oxford Street or Prempeh II Street to save money.
What's the best hotel in Ghana for a romantic trip?
Hans Cottage Botel on Pedu Road in Cape Coast is genuinely hard to beat for romance. You're 12 minutes from Cape Coast Castle and the bungalows sit over a still lagoon with live crocodiles below (they're harmless. trust us, the mood is better than it sounds). Book a lakeside chalet rather than the standard rooms, and pair it with a sunset trip to Kakum National Park, 30 minutes away.
