Grand Anse Beach: What nobody tells you before you book
Grand Anse is 3km of white sand on Grenada's southwest coast and it genuinely earns the hype. The water is calm, clear, and warm year-round. Hotels here range from the $130/night Coyaba at the quieter northern end to Spice Island Beach Resort at the southern end starting at $650/night.
The strip between Flamboyant Hotel and Coyaba Beach Resort is where you want to be for beach bar access and the water taxi pier to St. George's Carenage. Book a room on the beach side, not the road side. the difference in noise is significant and some hotels charge the same rate for both.
L'Anse aux Epines and Prickly Bay: Grenada's yachting scene
L'Anse aux Epines sits about 15 minutes south of Grand Anse by taxi and feels like a different Grenada entirely. Prickly Bay Marina draws sailing crowds from November through May, and the restaurants around the anchorage like Le Phare Bleu and Budget Marine are genuinely good. Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel is the address here, and it's worth every cent of the $160-280/night.
If you're not a sailor, you still benefit from the calmer bay water and the upscale but unpretentious crowd. Walk 8 minutes east from Calabash and you hit BBC Beach, one of the quieter stretches on the island. Skip the overpriced sunset cruises that tout from the marina dock. the house reef at Calabash is better snorkelling anyway.
Getting around Grenada without a car
Minibuses run from the Esplanade Bus Terminal in St. George's to most parts of the island. Grand Anse to St. George's is EC$3 (about $1.10) and takes 20 minutes. Water taxis from the Grand Anse jetty to the Carenage are $4 one-way and take 10 minutes, which is genuinely the most pleasant way to arrive in town.
Taxis are unmetered and rates are regulated by the government. St. George's to Grand Anse is fixed at about $20. From Grand Anse to True Blue Bay runs $15 and to L'Anse aux Epines about $18. Always confirm the price before you get in. drivers are generally honest but it helps to know the numbers.
Grenada's seasons: When to go and what you'll pay
Peak season runs December through April with dry weather and temperatures of 26-29°C. Hotel rates jump 30-40% across the board during this window, with Spice Island Beach Resort and Silversands regularly hitting $1,200-1,500/night for suites. The Grenada Sailing Festival in late January and Spice Mas Carnival in August are the two events that push prices hardest.
May through November is technically the wet season but don't let that put you off entirely. Rain comes in short bursts and mornings are usually sunny. Hotel rates drop to their lowest from June through October. you can get Coyaba Beach Resort for $130-150/night when January rates are $180-210/night. Grenada sits south of the main hurricane track, so the risk is lower than people assume.
Grenada's best beaches by hotel location
Grand Anse Beach is the obvious one and the easiest to access from most hotels. For something quieter, Magazine Beach near Point Salines is 5 minutes from Maca Bana Villas and rarely gets crowded even in peak season. La Sagesse Bay in Saint David is the most scenic on the island. secluded, palm-fringed, and about 45 minutes east of Grand Anse by taxi.
Levera Beach in the far north takes an hour to reach from Grand Anse but sees almost no tourist traffic. BBC Beach near L'Anse aux Epines is a local favourite with a handful of beach bars and no resort chairs to navigate. And if you're staying at True Blue Bay, the calm marina water is ideal for kids even if it's not a conventional beach.
How to eat well in Grenada without the tourist markup
The Fish Friday market at the Carenage in St. George's every Friday evening is the best food experience on the island for under $15. Vendors set up along the waterfront from around 6pm with fresh mahi-mahi, lobster, and local sides. It's a mix of tourists and locals and the vibe is genuinely festive.
For everyday eating near Grand Anse, Umbrellas Beach Bar serves good roti and grilled fish without the resort price tag. The Nutmeg restaurant on the Carenage in St. George's is a genuine institution. go for the oil down (Grenada's national dish) rather than the tourist plates. If you're at Calabash, ask the concierge about Patrick's Homestyle Cooking in Lagoon Road. no sign, tiny kitchen, extraordinary food.

Khu vực khách sạn tốt nhất của Grenada
Grand Anse is where most visitors land and it earns that status, with the best beach and most hotel variety on the island. But if you want something more personal, L'Anse aux Epines and True Blue are worth the 10-minute taxi ride south.
Grand Anse & Morne Rouge 4 khách sạn được xác minh The best beach on the island with the widest range of hotels.
The best beach on the island with the widest range of hotels.
Grand Anse is where most first-time visitors to Grenada should stay. The 3km beach is the island's showpiece, water taxis to St. George's Carenage leave from the main pier and take 10 minutes, and the strip between Coyaba Beach Resort and Spice Island Beach Resort has enough restaurants and bars that you never need to go far. Hotels here run the full spectrum from $130/night at Coyaba to $1,500/night at Silversands.
Morne Rouge sits just around the headland from Grand Anse, about a 10-minute walk south. It's quieter, the beach is smaller but less crowded, and Flamboyant Hotel and Villas sits right here at $140-220/night. It's a good call if Grand Anse feels too busy for you.
Avoid booking anything listed as 'Grand Anse area' that's actually on the main road inland. Some guesthouses use the Grand Anse name but are a 15-minute uphill walk from the beach with no easy shortcut. Read the fine print on any 'sea view' claim. the Radisson and Coyaba have genuine beachfront access, others don't.

L'Anse aux Epines (pronounced 'Lanzipeen' locally) is where the sailing crowd anchors up, the restaurants are a notch above, and you feel further from the tourist bustle without sacrificing comfort. Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel on Prickly Bay is the standout property in this region, arguably the best hotel on the island for couples. It's 15 minutes by taxi from Grand Anse, so you're not isolated.
True Blue sits between the airport and Grand Anse, right on True Blue Bay. True Blue Bay Boutique Resort is an excellent family base here. calm water, a kids' area, and 8 minutes from Grand Anse Beach. The marina setting also keeps older kids entertained watching yacht traffic.
The one area to skip in this region is the stretch of guesthouses along Lance aux Epines main road near the roundabout. They're convenient to nothing and the 'bay views' mostly mean looking at other people's fences. Pay a little more and actually stay on the water.

Magazine Beach is a quiet crescent of sand near Point Salines, right at the southwestern tip of the island. Maca Bana Villas sits on the cliffs above it at $185-270/night and it's one of the highest-rated hotels on the island for good reason. The views are genuinely spectacular and the beach below sees a fraction of the foot traffic of Grand Anse, which is only 10 minutes north by taxi.
This area suits people who want privacy and don't need to be in the thick of things. Maurice Bishop International Airport is 5 minutes away, which sounds like a negative but actually means zero transit stress on arrival and departure days. The flight paths don't cause noise issues in practice.
Point Salines itself has little in the way of shops or restaurants within walking distance of Maca Bana, so you're relying on the villa kitchen or taxis to Grand Anse for evenings out. That's fine if you know going in. It's not the right base if you want to wander to a beach bar on a whim.

Remote, beautiful, and a world away from the resort strip.
La Sagesse Bay on Grenada's southeast coast is one of those places that genuinely feels undiscovered. La Sagesse Nature Centre sits right on the beach here at $75-110/night, making it the best value beachfront property on the island. The bay itself is calm and shaded by sea grape trees, with a mangrove estuary next door that draws birders and kayakers.
The tradeoff is distance. You're 45 minutes by taxi from Grand Anse and 50 minutes from St. George's. There's one restaurant on site and very little within walking distance. That's the point for many guests. If you want to actually slow down, disconnect, and eat local food on a quiet beach, this is the right address.
Saint David parish has almost no tourist infrastructure beyond La Sagesse itself. The coastal road between here and St. David's village is rough in places and minibus frequency is low. Rent a car for a day or two if you want to explore, or arrange excursions through the hotel. Don't book here as your base if you're easily bored.
Xem tất cả khách sạn Saint David & La Sagesse Bay → Grenville & East Coast 1 khách sạn được xác minh Real Grenada, no resort prices, not for everyone.
Real Grenada, no resort prices, not for everyone.
Grenville is Grenada's second city on the east coast and it gets almost no tourist traffic. That's the appeal for some people. Grenada Rainbow Inn sits in Grenville Town Centre at $55-85/night and it's the most honest budget option on the island. It's simple, clean, and puts you in a working Grenadian town rather than a resort bubble.
The Saturday market in Grenville is one of the best on the island for local produce, spices, and street food. The River Antoine Rum Distillery in Saint Patrick, 25 minutes north by car, is the oldest working distillery in the Caribbean and worth the trip. From Grenville you're also close to Grenada's Atlantic coast, which is rougher and more dramatic than the Caribbean side.
Getting to Grand Anse from Grenville takes 45 minutes by minibus or taxi. This makes Grenville a poor base for beach-focused trips. But if you want to experience Grenada beyond the resort zone, spend at least one night here. It resets your perspective on the whole island.

Cách chúng tôi đánh giá những khách sạn này
Mỗi khách sạn trong danh sách này đều trải qua cùng một quy trình đánh giá. Đây là cách chúng tôi chấm điểm.
We reviewed 8,000+ options across the main regions of Grenada. We cut anything with misleading beachfront photos (there's a lot of that around Lance aux Epines), resorts charging Grand Anse prices for Grenville-level locations, and guesthouses with spotty AC in a Caribbean climate. We also dropped anything where 'sea view' meant a sliver of blue between two concrete walls.

Peak Season (Dec-Apr)
This is Grenada at its driest and most expensive. The Grenada Sailing Festival in late January draws the biggest surge, pushing already high rates even further at properties near Prickly Bay Marina. You'll pay $650-1,200/night at Spice Island Beach Resort and Silversands, and even mid-range options at Grand Anse hit $175-260/night. Book 3-4 months ahead for anything decent.
Sweet Spot (May & Nov)
May and November are the two shoulder months that most travellers overlook. Temperatures sit at 27-30°C, rain is infrequent and short when it comes, and hotel rates drop 25-35% from peak levels. Coyaba Beach Resort drops to around $140/night and La Sagesse Nature Centre can be had for $80-90/night. Grand Anse Beach is noticeably less packed and the water taxi wait goes from 20 minutes to about 5.
Carnival Season (Jul-Aug)
Spice Mas Carnival happens in August and it's the best cultural event on the island. Hotels around St. George's and Grand Anse fill up fast the week before Carnival Monday and Tuesday, with rates jumping 20-30% from standard wet-season lows. If you're coming for Carnival, book the Grand Anse strip specifically. you want the water taxi access to the Carenage at night. It gets loud and festive in the best way.
Low Season (Jun, Sep-Oct)
These are the quietest and cheapest months in Grenada. La Sagesse Nature Centre drops to $75/night and even True Blue Bay Boutique Resort comes down to the $195 floor of its range. Grenada sits below the main Atlantic hurricane belt, so the risk is lower than neighbouring islands. but it's not zero. September and October are statistically the most active months. If a named storm threatens, airlines and most hotels will work with you on changes.
Cách đặt khách sạn tại Grenada
Chiến lược đặt phòng thông minh cho Grenada.
Book Grand Anse hotels 3+ months ahead for January
The Grenada Sailing Festival in late January is the single biggest hotel pressure point of the year. Properties from Coyaba to Spice Island sell out 3-4 months in advance for that week. If you're flexible on dates, the week before or after the festival sees near-identical weather with $40-80/night lower rates across the board.
Always confirm beachfront vs. beach-access before you pay
Several hotels around Lance aux Epines and parts of Grand Anse advertise beachfront rooms but are actually a 5-15 minute walk across roads and car parks. Ask directly: 'Is there sand directly outside the property?' If they hedge, assume no. Coyaba, Radisson, Spice Island, and Silversands are genuinely on Grand Anse Beach with no road crossing.
Use the water taxi instead of taxis for St. George's trips
The water taxi from the Grand Anse jetty to the Carenage waterfront in St. George's costs $4 each way and takes 10 minutes. The same trip by land taxi costs $20 and takes 20-30 minutes with traffic on the Lagoon Road. The ferry also drops you directly at the Carenage, which is the right side of St. George's for restaurants, Fort George, and the National Museum.
Negotiate car rental in advance, not at the airport desk
Rental cars at Maurice Bishop International Airport from Budget or AVIS list at $65-80/day when you book last-minute. Call or email at least a week ahead and you can often get $45-55/day for the same vehicle. A car for 2 days is enough to cover Grand Etang National Park, the River Antoine Rum Distillery in the north, and La Sagesse Bay on the east coast.
Avoid sea-facing rooms on the eastern side of Grenville hotels
Grenada's Atlantic east coast is rougher than the Caribbean west side. The wind and wave noise at Grenville-area guesthouses can be significant in rooms facing east from November through March when trade winds strengthen. Ask for a sheltered interior or western-facing room for quieter nights. usually no price difference.
For Spice Mas Carnival, book the full week not just the weekend
Carnival Monday and Tuesday in August are the headline days, but the J'ouvert street parties start the Friday before and the atmosphere builds all week. Hotels in Grand Anse see checkout pressure on Carnival Wednesday, so rates sometimes drop sharply for that night if you want to wind down after. The Carenage in St. George's is the main hub. water taxi access from Grand Anse makes it the best base for the whole event.
Câu hỏi thường gặp về khách sạn tại Grenada
Câu trả lời thẳng thắn từ đội ngũ của chúng tôi.
What's the best area to stay in Grenada?
Grand Anse Beach is the right base for most visitors. You're 10 minutes from the Carenage waterfront in St. George's by water taxi (about $4 each way) and you have the island's best 3km stretch of sand on your doorstep. If you want more seclusion, L'Anse aux Epines around Prickly Bay adds a yachting atmosphere with far fewer crowds.
How much does a hotel in Grenada cost per night?
Budget guesthouses around Grenville start from $55-85/night. Mid-range resorts along Grand Anse Beach run $130-260/night depending on the season. The luxury end at Silversands or Spice Island Beach Resort on Grand Anse starts at $650/night and goes north of $1,500 in peak December to April.
When is the best time to visit Grenada?
January through April is peak season with dry weather, temperatures around 26-29°C, and hotel rates 30-40% higher than off-season. June through November is hurricane season, but Grenada sits below the main hurricane belt and rarely takes direct hits. The sweet spot is May or late November, when prices drop, crowds thin out, and it's still reliably sunny on Grand Anse Beach.
Is Grand Anse Beach worth the higher hotel prices?
Yes, for most people. The beach itself runs nearly 3km with calm, clear water and you're a 5-minute walk from restaurants and bars along the main strip. Hotels here like Coyaba and Radisson charge $130-260/night for that convenience. If you'd rather save $50-80/night and don't mind a short taxi ride, True Blue Bay and Magazine Beach give you similar water quality without the crowd.
Do I need a car in Grenada?
Not if you're staying in Grand Anse. Minibuses run regularly between Grand Anse and the Carenage in St. George's for about EC$3 (around $1.10), and water taxis cost $4 one-way. If you want to reach La Sagesse Bay in Saint David or Levera National Park in the north, a rental car for a day or two makes sense. expect around $50-65/day from Budget or AVIS at Maurice Bishop Airport.
Are there good budget hotels in Grenada?
Budget options are slim compared to bigger Caribbean islands, but they exist. Grenada Rainbow Inn in Grenville is the most honest budget pick on the island at $55-85/night. It's 45 minutes from Grand Anse by minibus but gives you a real slice of local town life on the east coast. Don't expect luxury, but the rooms are clean and AC works.
Which Grenada hotels are best for couples and honeymoons?
Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel on Prickly Bay is the standout for couples, with private plunge pools and butler service from $160/night. Maca Bana Villas at Magazine Beach near Point Salines offers clifftop privacy for $185-270/night, with views that genuinely make people gasp. Both are 15-20 minutes from the Grand Anse action if you want a night out.
Is Grenada safe for tourists?
Grenada is one of the safer Caribbean islands for tourists. The main precaution is avoiding isolated areas of St. George's after dark, particularly the back streets behind Market Square away from the Carenage waterfront. Stick to Grand Anse, L'Anse aux Epines, and the lit waterfront areas at night and you'll be fine.
What's the best family hotel in Grenada?
True Blue Bay Boutique Resort in True Blue Bay earns that spot with a kids' program, calm swimming water, and a marina setting that keeps children entertained. It runs $195-290/night, which is fair for what you get. It's about 8 minutes by taxi from Grand Anse Beach and 5 minutes from Maurice Bishop International Airport.
How far is the airport from Grand Anse Beach hotels?
Maurice Bishop International Airport is in Point Salines, about 10-15 minutes by taxi to Grand Anse Beach hotels. Expect to pay $20-25 for a regulated taxi. There's no airport shuttle for most hotels, but Coyaba, Radisson, and Spice Island Beach Resort all offer arranged transfers if you book in advance.
What should I avoid when booking a Grenada hotel?
Watch out for hotels that advertise 'sea views' or 'beachfront' around Lance aux Epines when they're actually a 10-minute walk from the water across a car park. Also avoid booking the cheapest guesthouses in St. George's city centre if you want beach access. you'll be paying daily taxi costs that wipe out any savings. Budget $40-60 extra per night for a proper beach location and you'll thank yourself.
Can I walk between Grand Anse and St. George's?
Technically yes, but it's a hilly 40-50 minute walk in Caribbean heat and not worth it. The water taxi from the Grand Anse jetty to the Carenage in St. George's takes 10 minutes and costs about $4 each way. Minibuses on the main road are EC$3 and run frequently until around 8pm.
