Nyborg and Svendborg work better as overnight stops
A lot of visitors do Hotel Storebælt in Nyborg or Clarion Christiansminde in Svendborg as a one-night side trip and then return to Odense. That's fine, but both hotels are better with two nights. You need one evening to actually settle in and appreciate the waterfront, especially in Svendborg where the best harbor atmosphere is after 6pm.
City Center parking is not your problem
If you're driving into Odense, park at the Filosoffen parking garage on Filosoffen street near the Brandts Quarter.
