The Riverside is for people who want the view of the Old Town rather than being in it. You're looking across the Porvoonjoki at those famous warehouses from your window, and the pedestrian bridge gets you over in 6 minutes. It's honestly the better pick for couples. How to get to Porvoo from Helsinki (all your options)
The Kamppi-Porvoo express bus is the standard move. It departs from Kamppi terminal in central Helsinki roughly every 30 minutes during the day, costs about €10-14 each way, and drops you at Porvoo bus station on Linja-autoasema in 50 minutes. From there, the Old Town is a 10-minute walk west.

The Taidetehdas Arts District is about 12 minutes walk from the Old Town red warehouses. not far, and the route along the river is pleasant. Budget accommodation around the bus terminal area exists but we'd skip it.
