Jolly Harbour is the beating heart of the west coast. The marina, the beach, the supermarket on Harbour Drive, the restaurants along the boardwalk. everything clusters here in a way that makes the rest of Antigua feel far away. It's a gated community, which keeps it quiet at night and safe enough to walk the marina path after dark.

Jolly Beach Resort and Spa sits directly on the sand, about 8 minutes walk from the marina entrance. It's the west coast's biggest all-inclusive and works well if you want everything sorted without decision fatigue. Jolly Beach Guesthouse is the budget option, also in Jolly Harbour, and it's honest value for what you pay at $55-85/night.

The one thing to know: Jolly Beach itself is a public beach. It gets busy on weekends with local families from St. John's, which is 20 minutes north by car. That's not a problem. it's actually nice. but if you wanted total seclusion, this isn't your beach. Head south to Valley Church for that.

Valley Church Bay sits about 10 minutes south of Jolly Harbour and feels like a different island. The beach is smaller, the crowd is thinner, and the water clarity is noticeably better. Cades Bay Reef, just offshore, is one of Antigua's healthiest reef systems and is within easy reach by kayak or short boat trip from the bay.

Cocos Hotel Antigua is the only vetted property here, and it's the right one. Perched above Valley Church Bay with direct beach access, it's rated 8.5 and priced at $120-180/night. That's genuinely strong value compared to what you'd pay for a similar setting at Five Islands. The restaurant at Cocos is also worth a dinner even if you're not staying there.

The area is walkable within itself but you'll need a car or taxi to reach Jolly Harbour (10 minutes) or St. John's (25 minutes). There are no shops in Valley Church itself. Stock up at the Jolly Harbour supermarket before you settle in.

Five Islands Peninsula is where the west coast gets serious. Galley Bay Resort and Spa sits in Five Islands Village on a stretch of beach that barely sees day-trippers. It's adult-only, all-inclusive, and rated 9.0 for a reason. The lagoon on one side and the Caribbean on the other makes for a setting that's hard to match at any price point.

Soldier Bay, just north of Five Islands, is even more private. Blue Waters Resort and Spa commands the clifftop here with dramatic rocky shoreline and calm swimming coves below. At $280-480/night it's positioned at the top of the market and the 9.2 rating reflects that. This is not a hotel you book for convenience. You book it for the experience.

Neither property is within walking distance of restaurants or shops outside the resorts. That's by design. If you're staying here, you're staying in. Plan one or two taxi excursions to English Harbour or Fig Tree Drive and use the rest of your time exactly where you are.

Dickenson Bay is on the northeast coast, near the airport, and it operates at a completely different pace to the west coast. The beach is long, the restaurants are numerous, and the water sports operators set up along the whole strip. It's the kind of beach where something is always happening. Old Road sits on the southwest coast where the hills of Fig Tree Drive meet the sea. Morris Bay is one of the most sheltered and prettiest bays on the island. Curtain Bluff Resort occupies a dramatic bluff between two beaches here and has done so since 1961. It's not a trendy new build. it's the real thing.

The Old Road area is rural. The nearest town is about 15 minutes by car toward St. John's. You're not booking Curtain Bluff for local restaurant options. You're booking it because the resort itself is the destination.
