Every hotel earned its spot. Here's exactly why we picked each one.

Hotel Capric hotel interior
#1

Hotel Capric

Barrio El Recreo, Viña del Mar $55–85/night 7.6/10

A straightforward budget option a few blocks inland from Avenida Libertad. Rooms are compact but clean, with decent beds and functional bathrooms. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, giving you a more local feel than the tourist strip. Breakfast is basic but included, which helps at this price point. Good choice if you want to keep costs low without sleeping in a hostel.

Hotel San Martin hotel interior
#2

Hotel San Martin

Centro, Viña del Mar $75–110/night 7.9/10

Sits on Avenida San Martin close to the casino and the beach promenade, which is a genuinely useful location. The building is older and some rooms show their age, but the beds are comfortable and the staff are attentive. Street-facing rooms get noise on weekends so ask for a quieter interior room when booking. Parking is available nearby for a small fee. Solid mid-budget pick for a short coastal stay.

Hotel Cap Ducal hotel interior
#3

Hotel Cap Ducal

Marina, Viña del Mar $110–165/night 8.3/10

This iconic circular building sits right on the rocks above the Pacific on Avenida Marina, and the ocean views from the front rooms are genuinely impressive. The architecture alone makes it worth considering. Food at the restaurant is reliable and the atmosphere is classic Chilean coastal. Rooms are comfortable rather than luxurious, and the decor leans retro, which suits the building well. Reserve a sea-view room well in advance.

#4

Hotel del Mar

Casino District, Viña del Mar $130–200/night 8.6/10

Attached directly to the Casino Municipal on Avenida San Martin, this is one of the most recognizable hotels in the city. Rooms are well-appointed with modern furnishings and many face the ocean. The pool area and spa are well-maintained and add real value. Service is professional and consistent, which you do not always find at this price in Viña. A good base for exploring the beach, the Reloj de Flores, and the main shopping streets.

Enjoy Viña del Mar Hotel

Cerro Castillo, Viña del Mar $145–210/night 8.7/10

Hotel Oceanic

Reñaca, Viña del Mar $150–220/night 8.4/10

The beach at Reñaca is within a short walk and is generally less crowded than the main Viña beaches in shoulder season. Rooms are modern, with balconies on the upper floors giving decent sea views. The small restaurant focuses on fresh seafood and is consistently good. Renting a car or using taxis is helpful to reach the city center easily.

Radisson Blu Hotel Viña del Mar hotel interior
#7

Radisson Blu Hotel Viña del Mar

Miramar, Viña del Mar $170–240/night 8.5/10

The Radisson Blu sits along the coastal avenue in the Miramar area, offering reliable international chain standards in a city that does not have many. Rooms are spacious by local standards, with good work desks and fast wifi. The fitness center and pool are well-maintained. Location puts you close to both the beach and the main commercial streets without being in the middle of the loudest nightlife zones. Conference facilities make it popular with corporate travelers coming from Santiago.

Hotel Punta Mira hotel interior
#8

Hotel Punta Mira

Cerro Castillo, Viña del Mar $185–250/night 8.8/10

A smaller boutique property on the hillside of Cerro Castillo, with striking views over the harbor and coastline. The rooms are individually decorated with local artwork and quality linens, and the attention to detail is noticeably better than the larger chain hotels. Breakfast is served on a terrace and on clear mornings the view is the best in the city. The narrow streets of Cerro Castillo require a short walk uphill from the main avenue. Couples and solo travelers tend to enjoy it most.

Grand Hotel Viña hotel interior
#9

Grand Hotel Viña

Costa Brava, Viña del Mar $260–380/night 9/10

One of the top luxury options in the city, positioned along the upper coastal drive with panoramic Pacific views from most rooms. The interiors are polished and contemporary, with high-quality finishes throughout. The spa is a genuine highlight, with treatments that use local ingredients and a relaxation pool overlooking the sea. Fine dining at the on-site restaurant is worth a reservation even if you are not staying. Service is attentive without being intrusive, which is harder to find than it should be.

Hotel Sheraton Miramar hotel interior
#10

Hotel Sheraton Miramar

Miramar, Viña del Mar $290–420/night 9.1/10

The Sheraton Miramar occupies a prime position on Avenida Marina overlooking the ocean, and it has been one of the prestige addresses in Viña del Mar for decades. The renovation completed in recent years brought the rooms and common areas fully up to modern luxury standards. The infinity pool facing the Pacific is a genuine standout feature. Restaurant quality is high, with an emphasis on Chilean wine pairings at dinner. It is the most consistently excellent full-service hotel in the city.

Where to Stay in Vina del Mar

The neighborhood you pick matters more than the hotel.

Renaca: Chile's party beach

Renaca sits 4km north of central Vina del Mar. The 500-meter beach fills with Santiago weekenders every January. Avenida Borgono runs along the cliff above, lined with restaurants and surf shops. Parking is CLP 5.000/day in summer or take bus 602 from Vina center.

Stay here if you want to wake up and walk to the sand. Hotel Cap Ducal and the hostels on Borgono street put you 2 minutes from the water. The tradeoff: noise from beach bars Friday and Saturday until 3am. Earplugs mandatory in January.

Central Vina: the polished resort strip

Central Vina runs from the Casino Municipal to Quinta Vergara park. Avenida San Martin is the main drag with restaurants, shops, and the Flower Clock. Sheraton Miramar Hotel occupies the best beachfront position in the city.

This is where families and couples stay. The beach (Los Marineros) is calmer than Renaca. Walking to restaurants takes 5 minutes instead of a taxi. Castillo Wulff and the Fonck Archaeological Museum are both within a 10-minute walk.

Concón: the seafood detour north

Concón sits 15 minutes north of Renaca. It is not technically Vina del Mar but most visitors treat it as one destination. The reason to go: seafood. Caleta Higuerillas has 10+ family-run fish restaurants on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Empanadas de camarón cost CLP 2.500. Machas a la parmesana (razor clams with parmesan) run CLP 8.000. The views from Roca Oceánica viewpoint are better than anything in Vina. Take bus 605 from Renaca for CLP 500.

Quinta Vergara and the Festival scene

Quinta Vergara park covers 32 hectares in central Vina. Free entry to the grounds year-round. The amphitheater hosts the Festival de la Cancion every February. During the rest of the year, the park has botanical gardens, the Palacio Vergara (art museum), and running trails.

If you are visiting during the festival (usually third week of February), book hotels by November. Prices spike 200-300%. Tickets sell out for the final night. Watch the competition rounds (nights 2-4) which are cheaper and less chaotic.

Beach hopping: Vina to Zapallar

Vina del Mar is the start of Chile's central coast beach strip. Drive or bus north through Renaca, Concón, Maitencillo, and Zapallar. Each gets progressively quieter and more upscale. Zapallar (90 minutes north) has Chile's most exclusive beach homes.

Maitencillo (45 minutes north) is the sweet spot: long sandy beach, decent surf, family restaurants, and hotels from CLP 50.000/night. Way less crowded than Renaca. Bus 605 connects the coast or rent a car for CLP 45.000/day.

Practical tips for a Vina del Mar weekend

Santiago to Vina: 90-minute Turbus for CLP 8.000. Arrive Friday evening, check in. Saturday: beach in the morning, lunch at Concón fish market, Casino in the evening. Sunday: Quinta Vergara park, Reloj de Flores, empanadas at Caleta Portales, afternoon bus back.

Two nights is the right amount for a first visit. One night feels rushed. Three nights and you start running out of things to do unless you add Valparaiso (15 minutes by metro). Budget: CLP 150.000-250.000 total for a comfortable weekend including transport and food.

Vina del Mar's best neighborhoods

The beachfront between Casino and Renaca has the best hotels. Central Vina near Quinta Vergara is cheaper but 15 minutes from sand. Pick based on whether you want waves or nightlife.

Central Vina (Casino area) 4 vetted hotels

The polished resort strip with the best mid-range and luxury hotels.

Central Vina stretches from the Casino Municipal to Quinta Vergara. Avenida San Martin is the spine. Sheraton Miramar sits on the beachfront promontory with 180-degree ocean views.

Hotels here are walkable to restaurants, the Casino, and the Flower Clock. Playa Los Marineros is the local beach. It is calmer than Renaca and better for kids.

This is where 70% of visitors stay. More polished, less party than Renaca.

Beach party central with surf and nightlife.

Renaca is 4km north of central Vina. The beach is wider, the waves bigger, the crowd younger. Avenida Borgono lines the cliff above with restaurants and bars that open onto terraces.

Summer (January especially) is loud and packed. Parking is a nightmare. But the energy is unmatched on the Chilean coast. Hostels start at CLP 20.000/night, proper hotels CLP 80.000-200.000.

Take bus 602 from central Vina (20 minutes) or Uber for CLP 3.000.

Best areas Avenida Borgono, beachfront
Price range CLP 20.000-200.000/night
Best for Young travelers, surfers, nightlife

Residential areas with budget prices and metro access.

Recreo and Miraflores sit inland between the metro line and the hillside. Hotels here cost 30-40% less than beachfront. You are 10 minutes from the beach by bus.

These are real neighborhoods. Corner bakeries, small markets, residential quiet. Metro Miraflores station connects you to Valparaiso in 15 minutes and central Vina in 5.

Good for budget travelers who want to spend money on food and activities rather than room views.

Best areas Near Metro stations
Price range CLP 30.000-90.000/night
Best for Budget travelers, longer stays
Avoid Expecting ocean views (you're inland)
Best months Year-round

Playa Negra and Playa La Boca are quieter alternatives to Renaca. The sand dunes (Dunas de Concón) are a protected nature area. A few hotels and cabanas available from CLP 60.000/night.

Best visited as a half-day trip from Vina. Bus 605 from Renaca takes 15 minutes.

Best areas Caleta Higuerillas, Playa Negra
Price range CLP 60.000-150.000/night
Best for Foodies, quieter beach experience
Avoid Staying here if nightlife is your priority

40%

Location Quality

Is the neighborhood walkable? Are restaurants, shops, and attractions within 10 minutes on foot? How does it feel after dark? We evaluate safety, public transport access, and whether the area has genuine local character or just tourist traps. A hotel in the wrong neighborhood ruins a trip. That's why location carries the most weight.

30%

Value for Money

We compare what you pay against what you get. A €150 hotel with a great location, clean rooms, and helpful staff can outscore a €500 hotel with fancy amenities in a bad area. We factor in seasonal pricing, cancellation policies, and hidden costs like tourist tax and breakfast surcharges. The goal is finding the best ratio, not the lowest price.

30%

Guest Experience

We analyze thousands of verified guest reviews across multiple platforms, looking for patterns rather than individual complaints. Consistent praise for cleanliness, staff, and room quality counts. We also assess the intangibles: does the hotel have character? Would you recommend it to a friend? A soul-less chain hotel with perfect facilities still loses to a well-run boutique with personality.
