Why These Hotels Made Our List

Every hotel earned its spot. Here's exactly why we picked each one.

Harana Surf Resort hotel interior
#1

Harana Surf Resort

Cloud 9, General Luna $45–75/night 7.8/10

One of the most affordable spots near Cloud 9 break, which is a five-minute walk from the main surf area. Rooms are simple bamboo-and-wood bungalows with fans and basic bathrooms. The communal vibe is strong here and guests tend to mix easily at the open-air lounge. Good choice if you are spending most of your day in the water anyway. Skip the on-site food and head to the nearby warung stalls instead.

Bravo Beach Resort hotel interior
#2

Bravo Beach Resort

Tourism Road, General Luna $70–99/night 8.1/10

Bravo sits right on Tourism Road with direct beach access and a small pool facing the ocean. Rooms are clean and air-conditioned, which puts it ahead of many competitors at this price. The in-house restaurant serves decent Filipino breakfast and decent cocktails at sunset. Staff are helpful with island-hopping bookings and motorbike rentals. A solid base for first-time visitors to Siargao who want comfort without overspending.

Kermit Surf Resort hotel interior
#3

Kermit Surf Resort

Cloud 9, General Luna $100–160/night 8.7/10

Kermit is arguably the most well-known mid-range option on the island, sitting just inland from Cloud 9 boardwalk. The pizza here has a reputation that stretches beyond Siargao, and the open-air restaurant fills up every night. Rooms range from fan dorms to air-conditioned private bungalows, and the nicer private rooms are genuinely comfortable. The pool area is small but gets lively in the afternoon. Book well in advance during peak surf season from August to November.

Siargao Bleu Resort and Spa hotel interior
#4

Siargao Bleu Resort and Spa

Mangrove Road, Del Carmen $120–190/night 8.3/10

Located near Del Carmen on the quieter western side of the island, close to the famous mangrove forests. This is a genuine retreat away from the party scene in General Luna. Rooms are spacious with local wood finishes and the spa treatments use local ingredients. The lagoon views from the main deck are some of the best on the island. Ideal for travelers who want Siargao without the surf-crowd noise.

Check Availability
Nay Palad Hideaway hotel interior
#5

Nay Palad Hideaway

North Siargao, Pacifico $140–210/night 8.9/10

Nay Palad sits on the northern tip of the island near Pacifico, far from the crowds of Cloud 9. The beach here is almost always empty and the water is calm enough for swimming most of the year. Cottages are open-air with four-poster beds draped in mosquito nets, giving it a castaway feel. Meals are included and the kitchen does a solid job with fresh seafood. The trade-off is that you need a motorbike or tricycle for anything beyond the property.

Check Availability
The Lazy Dog Inn hotel interior
#6

The Lazy Dog Inn

Tourism Road, General Luna $150–200/night 8.4/10

The Lazy Dog sits at the heart of General Luna on Tourism Road, which puts restaurants, surf shops, and tricycle hire within walking distance. Rooms are modern with good air conditioning and proper hot showers, which is not guaranteed everywhere on the island. The rooftop terrace is the best feature and catches a reliable breeze in the evening. Staff go out of their way to help with island itineraries. A dependable choice for travelers who want to be close to the action without paying luxury prices.

Check Availability
Kalinaw Resort hotel interior
#7

Kalinaw Resort

East Coast, Pilar $175–230/night 9.1/10

Kalinaw is a small boutique resort on the eastern coast near Pilar, away from the main tourist strip. The property has only a handful of cottages, so it stays quiet and personal. Each room opens directly toward the sea and the sunrise view is hard to beat anywhere on the island. The owners are hands-on and the service reflects that. Guests who make the trip out here consistently rate it as the most relaxing stay they had in Siargao.

Check Availability
Ocean 101 Beach Resort hotel interior
#8

Ocean 101 Beach Resort

Cloud 9, General Luna $190–249/night 8.5/10

Ocean 101 is one of the larger resorts near Cloud 9 and it has the amenities to match, including a full-sized pool, restaurant, bar, and surf school on site. Rooms are well-maintained and the family bungalows have enough space for two adults and two kids without feeling cramped. The beachfront location is genuinely excellent and you can see the surf break from the pool deck. Staff are efficient and the check-in process is organized. Pricing can creep up during high season but the facilities justify it.

Check Availability
Dedon Island Resort hotel interior
#9

Dedon Island Resort

Sta. Monica, Sugba Lagoon Area $280–420/night 9.4/10

Dedon Island is the most design-forward property in Siargao, built around handcrafted furniture from the German brand of the same name. The resort sits on its own island near Sta. Monica, accessible by boat, which means complete privacy. Each treehouse-style villa is open to the jungle and the sea, and the architecture alone is worth the stay. Food and activities are excellent and staff anticipate what you need before you ask. This is the benchmark for luxury in the entire region.

Check Availability
Savia Resort hotel interior
#10

Savia Resort

Malinao, General Luna $310–480/night 9.2/10

Savia is a newer high-end property in the Malinao area of General Luna, about ten minutes from Cloud 9 by motorbike. The pool is stunning and the design blends raw concrete with local materials in a way that photographs well but also feels comfortable to live in. Suites are large, genuinely air-conditioned, and finished with quality linens. The in-house restaurant is one of the best on the island for both food and presentation. Service is polished and the staff-to-guest ratio is high enough that you are never waiting long for anything.

Where to Stay in Siargao

The neighborhood you pick matters more than the hotel.

Surfing Siargao: What You Need to Know

Cloud 9 is the headline but not the whole story. The reef breaks at Jacking Horse, Stimpy's, and Tuason Point are within 10km of General Luna and offer different levels of difficulty. Cloud 9 is for advanced surfers only. The hollow rights at Cloud 9 break over a shallow coral reef and have sent plenty of people to the hospital.

Board rentals cost PHP 200 to 400/day on Tourism Road. Surf lessons for beginners are at Jacking Horse beach (easier sandy-bottom break). Book 2 lessons before going to Cloud 9. The best surf is at 6am before the easterly trade winds pick up.

Island Hopping from General Luna

The three-island tour is the main event: Naked Island (a sandbar), Guyam (jungle and snorkeling), and Daku (longest beach, picnic lunch included). Depart from General Luna pier at 8am. Tours cost PHP 600 to 800 per person. Book the day before through your hotel or any Tourism Road tour desk.

Sohoton Cove is the premium experience. The stingless jellyfish lake and cove scenery are extraordinary but the permit system limits daily visitors. Book 2 to 3 days ahead through Siargao Tourism Office. The tour costs PHP 1,500 per person including boat, guide, and fees. Worth every peso.

General Luna: Where to Eat and Drink

Tourism Road is the main spine of General Luna's dining scene. Kermit Siargao has the best reputation for pizza and pasta. Bravo handles Filipino classics. For breakfast, Harana Surf Resort's beach cafe is the best spot for fresh fruit bowls and coffee with a sea view at PHP 200 to 400.

The bar scene centers on Tourism Road and the beachfront strip. Bars open at 10pm and run until 3am on weekends. Punta Bar near the pier is the most established venue. Avoid drinking on isolated beaches at night and keep valuables in your accommodation safe.

Getting Around Siargao

Motorbike rental is the standard. PHP 400/day from most guesthouses or roadside shops on Tourism Road. The island is 102km long but most destinations are within 20km of General Luna. Habal-habal motorcycle taxis cover short trips for PHP 50 to 100. Multicabs (shared jeepney-trucks) run between General Luna and Dapa for PHP 30.

For Sohoton Cove and Pacifico, arrange through tour operators. The northern coast road is improving but sections remain unpaved after heavy rain. During typhoon season (July to November), check road conditions before motorbike trips to remote areas.

Magpupungko Rock Pools

Magpupungko is on the east coast, 45 minutes by motorbike from General Luna. The tidal rock pools appear at low tide, revealing clear natural pools among dramatic rock formations. Check the tide table before going. The pools are best at -0.2m tide or lower, which occurs mid-morning on most days.

Entry is PHP 50. The site has basic food stalls selling coconuts and grilled fish. Arrive by 9am to beat the tour groups. The drive through rice paddies and coconut groves along the east coast road is one of the better scenic rides on the island.

Sugba Lagoon: The Hidden Lagoon

Sugba Lagoon is a saltwater lagoon in Del Carmen municipality, 1.5 hours by boat from General Luna. The emerald water and surrounding mangroves make it photogenic. Entry fee is PHP 250. Tours depart General Luna at 7am and include 2 to 3 hours at the lagoon.

The lagoon has a floating platform for swimming and a slide. Book through any General Luna tour operator for PHP 1,200 to 1,500 per person including boat and fees. Combine with Del Carmen mangrove tour on the same day for the full Del Carmen experience.

Siargao's best neighborhoods

General Luna is Siargao's main hub, with the highest concentration of restaurants, bars, and accommodations. Cloud 9 is 3km north, centered on the famous surf break. Pacifico is the remote north coast for those who want to escape the crowds.

Mangroves, lagoon, and the airport

Del Carmen is the second-largest municipality, north of General Luna. The airport is here. Most tourists pass through but do not stay. The Sohoton Cove and Sugba Lagoon access points are in this municipality.

A few guesthouses near the airport serve early-morning flight departures. Otherwise, base in General Luna and day-trip here.

Best areas Near airport or Sugba Lagoon access

Tell us how you travel and we'll point you to the right part of Siargao.

Kermit Siargao on Tourism Road serves wood-fired pizza that people fly to Siargao for. Bravo handles Filipino classics. The local fish market near General Luna pier sells fresh catch at 6am for PHP 80 to 150 per kilo.

40%

Location Quality

Is the neighborhood walkable? Are restaurants, shops, and attractions within 10 minutes on foot? How does it feel after dark? We evaluate safety, public transport access, and whether the area has genuine local character or just tourist traps. A hotel in the wrong neighborhood ruins a trip. That's why location carries the most weight.

30%

Value for Money

We compare what you pay against what you get. A €150 hotel with a great location, clean rooms, and helpful staff can outscore a €500 hotel with fancy amenities in a bad area. We factor in seasonal pricing, cancellation policies, and hidden costs like tourist tax and breakfast surcharges. The goal is finding the best ratio, not the lowest price.

30%

Guest Experience

We analyze thousands of verified guest reviews across multiple platforms, looking for patterns rather than individual complaints. Consistent praise for cleanliness, staff, and room quality counts. We also assess the intangibles: does the hotel have character? Would you recommend it to a friend? A soul-less chain hotel with perfect facilities still loses to a well-run boutique with personality.

Booking Tips for Siargao

Insider tips for booking hotels in Siargao.

Book Sohoton Cove 3 days ahead

Sohoton Cove has a daily visitor limit enforced since 2019. Walk-in bookings rarely succeed in peak season (March to November). Book through the Siargao Tourism Office or your hotel at least 3 days ahead. The tour costs PHP 1,500 per person and is worth every peso.

Check surf conditions before renting

MSW (Magic Seaweed) and Surfline have accurate forecasts for Cloud 9. In typhoon season, swell can go from 1m to 5m in 24 hours. Check the 3-day forecast before booking non-refundable activities. Surf shops on Tourism Road display daily conditions.

Cash out in General Luna before touring

BDO and BPI ATMs on Tourism Road are the only reliable cash points on the island. Tour operators, boats, and remote accommodations are cash-only. Bring PHP 5,000 to 10,000 for each island-hopping day and cash out the night before departing.

Rent a motorbike, not just habal-habal taxis

A full-day motorbike rental (PHP 400) is cheaper than 4 habal-habal trips. It gives you the freedom to leave Magpupungko rock pools when the tide comes in rather than waiting for a return taxi. Most guesthouses on Tourism Road have motorbikes.

Avoid peak season beachfront pricing

Beachfront resorts on General Luna's main strip charge 2 to 3x the rate of equivalent places 200 meters inland. The beach is a 3-minute walk from any guesthouse on Tourism Road. Save PHP 2,000 to 5,000/night and use the money for extra island tours.

Cloud 9 observation deck: early morning only

The Cloud 9 boardwalk is worth visiting but go at 6am to 8am. This is when the waves are cleanest and the light is best. By 10am, wind chop degrades the surf and the crowd of spectators has arrived. The deck closes when conditions are dangerous.

Hotels in Siargao — FAQ

Everything you need to know before booking hotels in Siargao.

What is the best area to stay in Siargao?

General Luna for first-timers. You are walking distance from restaurants on Tourism Road, 15 minutes from Cloud 9, and within easy reach of boat tours. Surfers should stay within 10 minutes of the Cloud 9 boardwalk. Pacifico is for those who want empty beaches and have already done the main circuit.

When is surf season in Siargao?

August to November is peak surf season, with Cloud 9 breaking cleanest September to October. Waves reach 2 to 6 meters during typhoon swell. July can have good surf too. December to March is flat season, ideal for island hopping but not surfing. April to June is shoulder season with occasional good swells.

How do I get to Siargao?

Siargao has its own airport (IAO) in Del Carmen, 40km from General Luna. Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines fly from Cebu (50 min), Manila (1h45m), and Clark. From the airport, a van to General Luna costs PHP 350 to 500. Book transfers ahead in peak season.

Is Siargao good for beginner surfers?

Yes, but not at Cloud 9. Cloud 9 is a hollow reef break for advanced and expert surfers. Beginners should take lessons at Jacking Horse and Rock Island, both 5km from General Luna. Surf lessons cost PHP 600 to 1,000 per 2-hour session with board included.

What are the best day trips from Siargao?

The three-island tour (Naked Island, Guyam, Daku) costs PHP 600 to 800 per person and departs from General Luna pier at 8am. Sohoton Cove requires an overnight permit and costs PHP 1,500 per person including boat. Magpupungko Rock Pools are a 1-hour motorbike ride east, free entry.

What is Cloud 9 and is it worth visiting if I don't surf?

Cloud 9 is a world-famous reef break best viewed from the wooden boardwalk tower. Non-surfers pay PHP 50 to climb the observation deck and watch. The best viewing is 7am to 10am before the wind picks up. The Cloud 9 Surf Shop and a few cafes are next to the boardwalk.

Are there ATMs on Siargao?

Yes, in General Luna. The BDO and BPI branches on Tourism Road have working ATMs. Cash out in General Luna before heading to Pacifico or remote beaches, where cards are not accepted. Bring enough for the entire trip if staying more than 3 days.

What is a typical hotel price range in Siargao?

Budget guesthouses in General Luna start at PHP 800 to 1,500/night. Mid-range rooms with AC and pool access run PHP 3,000 to 6,000. Boutique beachfront resorts charge PHP 8,000 to 20,000. The W Retreat on Vieques comparison: on Siargao, PHP 10,000 to 25,000/night gets you genuine luxury.

What should I skip in Siargao?

Skip the overpriced influencer-adjacent resorts that opened 2020 to 2023 near General Luna. They charge Manila boutique-hotel rates for Siargao construction. The older, lower-profile places with actual beach frontage are better value. Also skip General Luna on New Year's Eve unless you like beach raves.

Can I rent a motorbike in Siargao?

Yes, from PHP 300 to 500/day in General Luna. Habal-habal motorcycle taxis are even cheaper for single trips. The main road from General Luna to Pacifico (80km north) is partly paved. Roads to Magpupungko and the north coast can be rough after rain.

How many days should I plan for Siargao?

5 days minimum. Day 1 to 2: settle in General Luna and Cloud 9. Day 3: three-island tour. Day 4: Magpupungko and Sohoton Cove (book ahead). Day 5: Sugba Lagoon or Pacifico day trip. 7 days adds proper surf lessons or a longer north coast exploration.

What is the food scene like in Siargao?

Tourism Road in General Luna has 20+ restaurants. Kermit Siargao serves the best wood-fired pizza on the island, PHP 400 to 650. Bravo restaurant on Tourism Road does reliable Filipino food from PHP 250. Avoid the overpriced places on the main beachfront strip where tables have fake candles and real tourist pricing.
